Laura was assigned to the Al- lied Signal team, whose member were assigned specific jobs. Laura's title throughout the week varied from Station Scientist to Payload Specialist to Design Spe- cifics Technician. “We learned to do experiments that astronauts do in space, ac- tion-reaction experiments and upper body fluid shift,” she said, “I found constellations on a screen and recorded them. I leaned how to build a rocket, which we launched. We worked on simula- tors and designed a team patch. We learned how to build a replica of what a lunar base would look like in the year 2017." For the future lunar base, her team had to solve four problems: crew systems to provide safely and comfort; problems and/or ill- nesses which may arise and the course of action; life support and back-up systems and emergency evacuation systems. They also studied and used an MMU Trainer, a 1/6 gravity simu- lator or a multi-axis trainer, in Laura Loeffler of Dallas recently spent a week studying at the Space Academy in Huntsville, Alabama. which your body never turns the same direction twice, and a 5DF Trainer. The U.S. Space Academy in Alabama has a Shuttle Park, the only full-scale mock-up of the space transportation system in the Western hemisphere. McDonald graduates from Lehigh University Keith McDonald, son of Mr. and Mrs. James McDonald of Dallas, graduated with high hon- ors Lehigh University June 2, with a B.S. in electrical engineering. In his junior year, McDonald was named a Lehigh University Presidential Scholar. In his se- nior year, he was chosen as one of 40 students at Lehigh to be hon- ored with the Who's Who in Ameri- can College Students award. He was elected to the Zeta Psi Good Scholar competition and was also the recipient of the Reese D. Isaacs Scholarship and the Old Crows Scholarship. While attending Lehigh, McDonald was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, where he served as recording secretary, rush chairman and steward. He was president, recording secre- tary and corresponding secretary oftheelectrical engineering honor sociely Eta Kappa Nu. McDonald was also a member of the honor societies Tau Beta Pi, Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma. McDonald volunteered as a tour guide and student ambassador for the Lehigh University admis- sions office. He was a piano ac- companist for Lehigh Catholic masses. His other activities in- cluded memberships in the soc- cer club team, and coordination of the senior class gift campaign.
