Davidowitz. Skanderson makes Slippery Rock dean's list Dallas resident, Kami Skanderson was recently named to the dean's list at Slippery Rock University. The students brought in memorabilia representing their kindergarten years ranging from a favorite photograph to a first pair of school shoes. At their class picnic held recently at Frances Slocum State Park, each ¢hild dropped an item into the capsule. Heard among the whispers of “bye-bye favorite toy” were the voices of teachers Mrs. Mary Jane Kozick and Mrs. Janet Ghannam fondly recalling memories of their year. The students buried the time capsule with the aid of custodians Mr. Joseph Stravinsky and Mr. Clair Herman. They will unearth the capsule on their eighth grade graduation day in the year 2004. Casey Baldwin placed the capsule in the ground as classmates looked on. Alma DeRojas to attend FBLA conference in D.C. Alma DeRojas, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Juan J. DeRojas of Dal- las, will attend the Future Busi- ness Leaders of American National Leadership Conference on July 8- 12 in Washington, DC. Having placed first in state level competi- tion in May, she will compete with other FBLA members [rom across the nation in the Introduction to Business Communications event. A distinguished honor roll stu- dent at Bishop O'Reilly High School, is sophcmore class secre- tary, member of the National Spanish Honor Society, Spanish Club, Foreign Correspondence Club, Glee Club, Chamber Choir Folk Group, school musical and yearbook committee. Wyoming Valley Montessori offers youth summer camps Wyoming Valley Montessori School, 851 W. Market St., Kingston is offering a series of summer camps June 24 through August 9. Band /Vocals camps (ages 7- 12) under the direction of WVMS teacher James Orfanella and Lisa Primatic during the weeks ofJune 24-27 and Aug. 5-9, is open to all vocalists and brass, woodwind. and percussion players with at least one year of playing exerience (school band or private lessons). Fundamentals of Canoeing (ages 9-12) will include 15 hours ofinstruction leading to Red Cross certification and will include swim- ming, hiking, fishing and a barbe- cue.
