Despite their aggressiveness the Mounts could not secure a goal and lost to Meyers lone point. Fred Maier had three saves for Dallas. Dallas 3 - Berwick 0 Dallas hot foot Ken Marsola unleashed one goal and assisted another October 6 as the Mounts knocked off Berwick 3-0. The Mounts also had scores by Ed . Thomas and Sean Callahan. VOLLEYBALL N. Pocono 2 - Dallas 0 The Lady Mounts recorded their fourth loss of the season, Oct. 4 to North Pocono. Their record drops to 4-4. Alisa Meroli and Emily Schweitzer provided strong serv- ice for Dallas shelling 8 and 7 points each respectively. Nanticoke 2 - Dallas 0 The lady spikers from Dallas were shutout Oct. 6 by host Nan- ticoke Area. The mounts lost 15- 5, 15-10 despite the solid defense of Sarah Mission and service of Joyce Scott. Crestwood 2 - Dallas O £ The Lady Mounts got swept by visiting Crestwood October 10, 15-8, 15-9. Amy Wisniewski ped well at the net for Dallas. 3-7). Lehman 2 - Abington 0 The strong arms of Kim Spenser and Cara Stroud led the Knights to victory over the Lady Comets October 10 with scores of 15-5, 15-4. Spencer and Stroud laced four kills apiece for the victors. Cara Nygren tallied three kills for Lehman (9-1). FIELD HOCKEY Tunkhannock 1 - Dallas 0 The Lady Mounts lost a hard fought match to host Tunkhan- nock Oct. 5. The Tigers allowed the Mounts just two shots on goal and two corners in the contest. Dallas keeper Lisa Tomaine re- corded 11 saves. Dallas 1 - Wyo. Seminary 0 The domineering Dallas offense took command and dealt a crush- ing defeat to conference power- house Wyoming Seminary Octo- ber 7. The Mounts offense ruled the game belting out 36 shots on goal while the defense limmited the Blue Knights to just three. Dallas got their only goal during a scramble in front of the cage when Mindy Haberstich pushed the ball to Tami Palka who knocked itin at 19:44 in the second. BOYS CROSS COUNTRY Wyo. Area 27 - Dallas 28 The Dallas pacers nearly squeezed out victory but came up one point short Oct. 5 against Wyoming Area. The Mounts cap- tured second and third places by John Crispell (16:56) and Mike Tomasura (17:08) respectively. GIRLS X-COUNTRY Dallas 25 - Wyo. Area 31 Stacey Suda turned in the fast- est time for the day finishing the course at Frances Slocum in 19:07, Oct. 5. Amber Coolbaugh placed second behind Suda with a time of 20:28. Their two times ~ paced the Mounts to a 24-31 vic- tory. GOLF Dallas 181 - Hazleton 196 The par 36 Irem Country Club was the setting for the Dallas Mountaineers win over Hazleton, Oct. 7. Tom Klimek and Lynn Kilduff shared medalist honors for the Mounts shooting 6- over42's. Scott Lewis added a 47 for the Mounts whowon 181-196. Junior football ~ Kingston Township Raiders Even though the rain damp- ened the air and none of the King- ston Township Raiders won, Homecoming 1994 was a special time for all the players and cheer- leaders. ‘Graduates and parents recog- nized ata pre-game ceremony were Brian Bachman, Wayne Caster- lin, Sean Hoskins, Matt Jackson, Jim Krispin, Joseph Kukosky, Tim Pacewicz, Jerry Savoroski, John Scott, Daniel Stavish, Jesse Sto- larcyk, Joseph Stuppino, Chris Tucker, Chris Wilt, Erin Dunni- gan and Rachel Hiller. The C-Team lost a heartbreaker to Larksville by a final score of 20- 16. The Raiders managed to get down to the three yard line but couldn't connect for the score in the final minutes of the game. Bobby Zaruta had a stellar performance as he threw 10-17 for147 yards with two touchdown passes. Scoring for the Raiders were Jonathan Barbose and Jimmy Larson, while offensive players Mitch Ruddy, William Siglin and Doug Zaruta and defense players Nick Mathewson, Billy Youells, Steven Rosencrans and Bobby Zaruta played well. Final score of the B game was 38-0, with most of the scoring done in the first half and defense kicking in ‘the second half of the game. Offensive player Paul Saxon and defense Jesse Prebola and John Krispin played well. The A Team lost, 34-12 with touchdowns scored by Chris Tucker and John James. Offensively Matt Jackson and Jim Regan played a good game, while defense players Joseph Stuppino and Wayne Casterlin got interceptions. The Raiderette Cheerleaders did a remarkable job during their routine and formed the honor court for the homecoming cere- mony. Next game will be Sunday against Wyoming at the 10th Street field in Wyoming. Caravan will leave the Acme Parking lot at 11 a.m. Dallas Mini Mounts Dallas Mini Mounts A, Band C Teams played their second away game Oct. 9 in Edwardsville. The Mounts C-Team scored first in the first quarter of play by Quartberback Ryan Gryskevicz. Edwardsville countered with 6 points late in the first half. The next scoring was late in the 3rd quarter, when running back Jimmy Jordan burst through the Eagle's line and ran 20 yards for the score. A two-point conversion was made by quarterback R. Gryskevicz. Edwards countered with an- other touchdown late in the 3rd quarter but Dallas’ defense would not allow the two point conver- sion. The Eagles’ offense threatened in the last quarter of play when outside linebacker Michael Ra- cosky intercepted their pass and ran it down to Dallas’ 10 yard line in the final play of the day. The final score was Mini Mounts 14 - Eagles 12. Dallas Band A-Teams each put out a valiant effort against the Eagles. But each team could not come up with a win. Good luck to all as the Mounts face the Pittston Panthers at ~ Pittston Oct. 16. Dallas Mini Mounts hosted the Larksville Greenwaves on Oct. 2. This was Dallas's final home game for the season. Final score 16-8. Dallas B team played their best but could not come up with a win. Final score of the B-Team was 16- 6, the lone touchdown was scored by Danny Fetko with the com- bined effort of the offensive line. The Dallas A-Team also played its best, but could not come up with a win L-L Junior Knights The Lake-Lehman Jr. Knights visited Swoyersville October 8. In the C-game Swoyersville scored in the first quarter to take an 8-0 lead. Joshua Marth re- ceived the kickoff from Swoy- ersville for a touchdown run, the extra points were scored by Brian Cania. The first quarter ended in an 8-8 tie. In the second quarter Swoy- ersville scored but the extra points were stopped by the Lehman de- fense. A fumble in the second quarter allowed another Swoy- ersville score for a 20-8 score at the half. Ryan Mulloy intercepted the ball in the third quarter but Lehman just couldn't score the rest of the game. The final score was 36-8. The B-team had a 6-0 forfeit for a win. The A-team had a scoreless first quarter. The second quarter had a couple of interceptions al- lowing Swoyersville a 20-0 lead at the half. The third quarter kickoff was received by Warren Vogel and taken to the 20 yard line. Lehman made it to the 10 yard line only to have Swoyersville recover a fumble. A touchdown pass from Jake Rambus to Irv Nulton in the fourth quarter was completed for the only Lehman score. Final score was Swoyersville 26 - Lehman 6. Lehman's final home game will be Oct. 16 when they host the Wilkes-Barre Bears. The first game starts at noon. VOLLEYBALL Lehman 2 - GAR 0 The Knights claimed victory after a dramatic comeback in the second game to defeat GAR 2-0. The Knights took the first game 15-0 and trailed late in the second 14-10 before they came back to pull out a 17-15 victory. Cara Stroud dished out five kills and three blocks. ‘CROSS COUNTRY Lehman 15 - Nanticoke 50 The trackers from Lehman took seven of the top 10 finishes to swipe a victory from nantiocoke Oct. 5, Chris Long finished first with a time of 17:13. He was followed by Kevin Newell (17:42) second; Ralph Wasiakowski, (18:00) third and Mike Phillips (18:01) fourth. FIELD HOCKEY Lehman 3 - Honesdale 0 The Lady Knights picked away at the Honesdale defense and came up with a 3-0 victory Oct. 5. Lehman's Marie Manzoni, Chelly Kovach and Tara Dymond each drove in one goal for the win. Beth Turner added two assists. Lehman 5 - Hazleton 0 The Lady Knights turned up the heat in the second half with four goals to shutout Hazleton 5- 0, October 4. Tara Dymond scored two goals for the Knights. The lady stickers recorded 39 shots on goal and limited the Cougars to two. Lehman 5 - Abington 0 The Lady Knights relied upon the experience of Judy Sichler and Tara Dymond to lead the team toa 5-0 shutout of Abington Heights, Oct. 7. Sichler and Dymiond each tallied a goal and an assist for the Knights. The win gives Lehman (8-2-1) a bid at a District 2 Class AA playoff spot. Lehman is now one game ahead of Wyoming Seminary and trail first place Dallas by one half game in the standings. SOCCER Tunkhannock 3 - Lehman 1 Despite out shooting the Tigers (27-19) Lehman only scored one in their defeat to Tunkhannock, Oct. 4. Jeremy Fleeger scored the only goal for Lehman at 5:02 in the fourth. Lehman 2 - Coughlin 3 Lake-Lehman nearly pulled out a victory in their clash with Divi- sion 1-B powerhouse Coughlin, Oct. 6. Jeremy Fleeger assisted by Charles Snyder unleased two goals in the contest but trailing by one in the final seconds failed to get their shot in the net.
