McCabe owner of Hanover Ornamental Iron Works, Dallas, recently received the award at the ‘Top Job Competition” of the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association (NOMMA) at their annual conven- tion held this year in Chicago, Ill. NOMMA is an organization based in Forest Park, GA, has over 600 members from the U.S. and Europe joined togehter for education purposes and quality standards. . McCabe is a member of the Standards Committee at NOMME, a member of the Building Indus- ry Association of Northeastern ennsylvania and the North East Penn Contractors Association, and is an American Welding Soci- ety certified welder. Don Berlew and Erik Dingle were co-hosts of the evening and Class President Rich Fedock offered some recollec- tions. Fifty eight class members and their guests attended. Prizes were awarded to longest distance traveled to Bert Gosart of Mesa, Arizona; most children in Dallas School District to Dave Finn, youngest child to Sally Holvey Slifer and lookling like she did in school to Diane Schweiss Seymour. Sgt. Joe Grodis, the local Air Force recruiter. Marhelski, a senior at Dallas High School will soon be enlisted into © the Regular Air Force. Upon graduation from a six-week basic training course at Lackland Air Force Base, near San Antonio, Texas, Marhelski is scheduled to receive technical training in the general aptitude area. Marhelski will be earning credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force while attending basic and technical training schools. Air Force promotes Besteder Richard C. Besteder has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the * rank of lieutenant colonel. Besteder, a staff chaplain, is the son of Corey C. and Florence M. Schultz, niece of Louise Schultz, of RR 4, Dallas, recently completed an arduous six-month Antarctic deployment participating in Operation Deep Freez Winter- Over with Naval Support Forces Antarctica, Port Hueneme, Calif. 3 After enduring six months of mostly 24-hour a-day darkness and completing daily routines in temperatures of -30 degrees Fahrenheit or - less, all members of Schultz's detachment were awarded the Antarctica Service Medal with the Wintered-Over Device. > Schultz joined the Navy in January 1972, she is a 1985 graduate of Norfolk State University, Norfolk, Va. with a BA degree.
