DOVE Post Staff First grade students at Westmoreland School met some new big friends from UGI Utilities and learned that reading is FUN- damental last week. Volunteers from UGI, which funds the Reading is FUNdamen- tal (RIF) program in many area school districts, visited the school March 25 to help librarian Louise Roberts supervise the children as they selected a book to read and keep. When asked if they knew what UGI does, students guessed cable @ TV and telephones before hitting the correct answer of electricity. Achorus of “YES!” erupted after Mrs. Roberts told the children that they could keep the books which they had selected. Colorful paperback books about fire engines, Donald Duck, race cars, dogs, cats, dinosaurs, butterflies, Clifford the dog's ex- ploits and many other topics cov- ered two tables in the school li- brary, ready for the kids to select a favorite. Tiffany Gergel chose a book about butterflies because she's interested in them. “I have a dog named Segal. His tail looks like Steven Segal’s po- nytail,” said Mary Miller, select- ing a book about puppies. !
