10 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, October 3, 1990 N SCHOOL /COMMUNITY O'Reilly students hold outreach programs Two junior students from Bishop O'Reilly High School in Kingston have formed an outreach speakers program designed to spread the school’s message to supporting parishes. The conception of guidance counselor, Mrs. Jean Francis, the program aims to get students who attend Masses at the various parish churches in the west-side area acquainted with Bishop O'Reilly and its academic and extra-curricular offerings. Pastors from supporting churches in the back mountain and Harveys Lake areas have allowed the duo to speak during Sunday liturgies toward that end. The program has been such a success that Mrs. Francis plans on expanding the program and involving other student. John Gilgallon, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gilgallon of Shaver- town, is in the Young Scholars’ Program at Bishop O'Reilly and has earned six college credits during the summer. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Reid of Trucksville, Carrie Reid is president of her class and a member of the cheerleading squad. Senior Travelers take the stage while watching a show The tables turned for some Back Mountain Senior Travelers recently when they made one of their trips to Nashville and Pidgeon Forge to see a show. The trip was planned to attend a show at the Rainbow Theatre in Pidgeon Forge, Tennessee. Thirty five area residents at- tended the show which starred . Troop #241 scouts earn star rank during Court of Honor Boy Scout Troop 241, Lehman Twp., sponsored by the Jonathan R. Davis Vol. Fire Co. recently held a Court of Honor on Sept. 20 at the Idetown Fire Hall. Four boys earned their Star Rank; Mike Crane, John Edwards, Joe Blaine III, and Allen Scott III. Other scouts from the troop also earned merit badges which they were presented with that evening. Those boys were Matt Bullock, Vito Pilosi, Barry Ide, Wesley Rost, Jason Krywicki, Mike Yablonski Jeff Farley, Bill Belles. The scouts are planning a trip with the Trailblazer District to Niagara Falls in October. Troop Leaders are Joe Blaine, Ken Wentzel and Bernie Yablonski. Bishop O'Reilly High School, Kingston, has received notification that three members of the senior class have been chosen as National Merit Scholarship semi-finalists in the 1991 National Merit Scholarship Program. These three students represent a half of the total of six winners in the nine high schools in the Scranton Diocese. One of the winners, the daughter of Fred and Lien Chariott, Kather- ine Chariott of Dallas is a recent arrival at the school. Her family lived most recently in Maryland, and this is the 10th school Katherine has ——— ms] attended. She has joined the forensics team at O'Reilly, and plans to attend law school after graduation from college, preferably Harvard. Farmer graduates from King’s College Dr. Donald Farmer, vice president for academic affairs at King's College, has announced that 62 students recently graduated from King's.
