PAGE TWO Edmund P. Davis, operator of nine Burger King Restaurants in the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre area, has been selected as one of the nation’s 10 best franchise operators by Burger King Corporation. The ‘‘Operations Kxcellence’’ honor is presented to franchisees who best maintain Burger King standards for high quality food, speed of service, restaurant cleanliness and pleasant atmosphere, courtesy towards customers and overall management techniques. He is a member of LEG, Licensee Educational Group, a select group of multi-unit Burger King operators. Membership in the organization is by in- vitation only. There are only 20 members from California to Alaska to Maine, representing about eight percent of Burger King’s business. His brother-in-law, William Powell, is associated with him in the restaurants. Under Davis direction there are close to 500 employees, many of them from the Back Mountain area. Some of the employees joined the Burger King staff when they were in high school and have risen through the ranks to executive positions. The multi-unit restaurants occupy much of Davis’ time but: when ‘he does have leisure time. he enjoys music of all kinds. He is a talented musician and plays the organ. He does a lot of reading much of it related to the food business.
