The venerable and highly esteemed HIRAM THOMAS, of Sayre, is alarmingly ill, and we regret to learn little hope of his recovery is entertained by his family. Miss CORA BARTLETT and Mr. NORMAN EICIIKLBERGER were married at the residence of W. G. TRACY, Esq., last evening, but as we have been unable learn any of the partic ulars we cannot gratify our lady readers with a disciiption of what was undoubtedly a very brilliant affair. Mr. MYERS, editor of the Catawissa Item, who, with his wife, has been spending a few days visiting friends in this place, left for home yesterday. In addition to printing an excellent paper Mr. MYERS is extensively engaged in manufacturing manilla and blast ing paper and printing wrapping paper. Some days since D. E. IIUNTLY, who has been a long time sufferer from rheumatism, took the advice of the REVIEW, and went to Slaterville, and yesterday, S. 11. SACKETT fol" lowed his example. We have not the least doubt both gentlemen will experience great benefit if not complete restoration, if they re main long enough at that fountain of health. Mr. F. F. LYON of Barclay, who has been generat manager of the Barclay Coal Mines for a couple of years, has had the good for tune to be promoted to the high position of Superintendent of the Barclay Railroad and mines in place of J. B. JUDD. Mr. LYON is a live business man, possesses first-class bus iness qualifications, and is highly spoken of by teose who know him, as a good fellow. He is a brother of L. L. LYON, who is a com mercial agent forS. T. WLLLETS & Co N. Y., who like his brother is a gentlemanly fellow and always makes warm friends wherever he goes. Remember the Park Concert this eyening, if the weather is pleasant. The County Teachers Association meets in Sayre this morning and the sessions will be continued until to-morrow noon. The rain fell in torrents last evening, but the inclemency of the weather did not deter a very large audience from assembling to witness the commencement exercises of the Collegiate Institute. Mercur Hall was well filled and the perfomances were good. The graduating class was the largest for years.— The valedictory was delivered by Mr. A. F. BRONSON. In our report of the Graduates' Re-union we accidentally neglected to note that those present were in a large measure indebted to the labors of Miss Laura Leonard for the pleasant time experienced at the supper. The Northern Central Railway has de clared a semi-annual dividend of 3 per cent. The Theater Royal in Belfast, Ireland, was burned 011 Tuesday night. Loss £IO,OOO. Cornell appears to be the coming man at Albany if a ehoite is reached before adjournment. Mr. Nash declines the nomination by the Greenbackers for State Superintend ent of Instruction of lowa. A large fire occurred in Quebec Wed nesday night. Over eight hundred small dwellings were burned and fifteen hun dred families rendered homeless. The President expresses himself more than ever determined to sustain the At torney General and Postmaster General in the untrammelled conduct of the en tire investigation. The heirs of Barnabas Hammett and Joseph Noble, sue the estate of the late Asa Packer for over $2,000,000. The suit grows out of business transactions be tween Packer and Noble, Ilammett & Co. A suit by Packer against the above firm for a large amount is still undecided. The monotony of the New York legis lature was varied a little yesterday by Assemblyman Bradley charging the ad ministration men with bribery in connex ion with the senatorial contest. He al leged that Senator Sessions lpad given liiip a thousand dollars to vote for De pew. The matter is undergoing investi gation.
