II Chances of LecOniphni. Corre, pondelice oft he Philadelphia Press. WAkIINbTON, March 41858. The fate ref Lecompton is sealed be card redemption. The .S.onthein men refuse peremptorily to concur in the Pres ident's declaration that the people of Kiln sag, under the Calhoun Constitution, will have the right to modify and change its provisions previous to the prescribed, time of 180, not to nay anything of a condi tion precedent affixed to th act of ad mission; and the Northern Democrats who have, up to this time, Supported the Administration on this question, will go no further, unless such condition is a g reed to and . embodied in the law unmistakably. Stretur . otis efforts have been exerted, day aftor day, to compromise these eon flietingland fatal differences, without any apparent, or, indeed, so far as I can lean], without any real succees. The conse <luaus seem inevitable that these dis tractions will weaken the - Lecomptonites. Already half of the South Americans, it is stated, are with Walker and Douglas, that the question may be referred back to the people of Kansas for a fair and final determination. The Hon. Horice F. Clark will, I am told, vote against Leconipton as it is now presented. Other Democrats who op- posed Mr. Harris's resolution of inquiry tu•e-expected to go with him. The Kansas Investigating Committee will soon bring before the house the fact of their inability to go on with the duty imposed upon them. Their minutes will be spread before the palbic, that it may be seen- in what manner the order of the House was defeated. Attempts will be made immediately to have an addition of two members to the Committee to be pro vided for by resolution, with the mem bers to be named by the house icuteld of by Speaker Orr. 461.:31[4irrtitiatut5.
