PAGE TWO Phones Will Be Installed In West Halls Next Week With the wiring half completed, Bell Telephone Co. will begin installing new dial telephones in West Halls next week, according to Wilbur F. Diehl, manager of telephones. The new dial system is scheduled to be completed and in operation for the fall semester. University electricians started work on the project in the middle of January when they be gan running conduits in Thomp son, McKee and Hamilton Halls. When they finished this pre liminary work, Bell Telephone employes began running tele phone lines through the conduits and installing central boxes on each floor. Chapel Speaker Will Discuss 'My Thoughts' The Rev. Edmund A. Steimle, professor of homiletics at the , Mount Ain• Theological Seminary. Philadelphia, will speak at chapel services at 10:55 a.m. tomorrow in Schwab Auditorium. His subject will be "My Thoughts Are Not Your Thoughts." For the service, the choir will sing the anthem,"o Lord, God to Thee Be Praised," Swee linck. George E. Ceiga. organist, will play Prelude in G Minor, Richter,as the prelude and Finale in F Major, Capocci, as the post lude. Dr. Steimle, the author of "Are You Looking for God." was the preacher on the National Radio Pulpit in 1955. He has appeared during the past three years as the preacher on the United Lutheran Series of the Protestant Hour. At 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, Dr. Steimle will address the Lutheran Student Association at the Student Center on "You, Christ and the University." Th2re will be one telephone for each four rooms when the system is installed- These phones will be placed at intervals in the hall ways. Each room will be on a separate extension, and a bell placed in each room will signal the occu pants when their number is being dialed. Special Directory Diehl emphasized that the ex tension numbers will not be de termined by the room numbers. A special directory will be placed at each telephone, listing the room numbers and the corres ponding extension numbers. The new system for West Halls will mean that calls may be placed to telephones there by dialing from any telephone on campus. It will also mean that long-distance calls mav be re ceived or placed at any * time dur ing the day or night. This has not been possible in the past. PE Debaters To Visit Buffalo, Mt. Mercy The men's and women's debate teams left campus yesterday for tournaments in Pittsburgh and Buffalo. The women's team is partici pating in the Mount Mercy Wo men's College invitational tourna ment in Pittsburgh. Members of the affirmative team are Shelia Stahl, sophomore in education from Sharon. and Anne Smith, sophomore in education from Quakertown. Negative Team Members of the negative team are Erika Mares, freshman in arts and letters from State College, and Mary Ann GernmiLl, sopho more in education from New Cumberland. The team will be accompanied by Carol Erdsman, graduate stu dent in speech development. Miss Erdsman is a graduate of Mount Mercy College. The subject of the debate will be the 1957 national topic, Resolved: That the United States should discontinue direct economic aid to foreign nations. Men to Visit Buffalo The men's debate team will go' to Buffalo University to debate the same national topic. Hugh Moore, Interfraternity Council rushing chairman, said the pledging date was o the council, but that men may the semester. He advised men who are inter ested in rushing during the spring, semester to register at the Frat ernity Affairs Office, 203 Hetzel Union, or at the dean of men's office. Moore reminded all fraternity! rushing chairmen to check men'sl averages before pledging them. A: 2.0 semester or All-University av-; erage is necessary for pledging. Must Be Registeted Moore also said that if men are; pledged today, the rushing chair-i men of the 55 fraternities have a two-week deadline until March 9. to register the pledges at the Frat-; ernity Affairs Office_ Commenting on the open houses that were held at the fraternities last week.
