" A class relay race will be held early in the spring session. The winning team will be the holders for one year of the Class Relay Cup, which will be contested for annually." Preliminary arrangements for an inter-collegiate debate be tween Dickinson and this college are rapidly nearing completion, It is probable that a three-year agreement will be made between the two colleges. The first debate will take place some time in April upon the question, "Resolved, That the United States Gov ernment should establish a National University." It was pro posed by Dickinson, State chobsing the affirmative. In entering upon this debate State takes a step into a new field, and the move ment is one which needs the heartiest support that every student can give it. As Dickinson is a law school, debating naturally forms a part of their course, and, while with the majority of us English is but a Freshman study, yet it is to be hoped that every loyal son of State will turn out and help make at least a credit able showing in this new field. A. held at York on the three days beginning with the 17th. It was the largest convention ever held, there being 665 delegates present, of which number 140 were students representing various colleges throughout Pennsylvania. Without a doubt the largest and probably one of the most brill iant social affairs that State College has ever witnessed occurred on the night of the 23d. It was the reception tendered by the faculty of the college to Dr. Atherton on his return from a seven months' trip abroad. The reception was held in the armory which was, despite its size and sombreness, most tastefully and harmoniously decorated. Everywhere the college colors, blue and white, predominated.
