Sallada, business managers., The Adelphi Club gave a dance at the Inn on the night of the 24th. Dr. Rothrock, of University of Pennsylvania, delivered a lec ture in the chapel on the night of the i ith on the subject, " Beau tiful 'Pennsylvania." It was one of a series of free lectures which the Scientific Association intends ,giving. The movement is a good one, and that it is appreciated was evidenced by the large at tendance. The Junior Assembly Committee has been chosen. W. P. B. Lockwood, J. L. Minick, W. F. Barclay, J. C. Reed, J. Norman Sherer and N. W. Buckhout are the members. The last named is chairman of the committee. The Mining Department is having a hydro metallurgical lab oratory fitted up in the Mechanic Arts building. The Senior Class has elected as the committee for the spring assembly A. N. Diehl, Thos. Beaver, J. W. Campbell, L. G. Dodge, W. D. Stevenson and A. S. McAllister. The Junior debates for the current term are decided by two professors who act .as judges; Dr. Atherton gave an informal talk in the chapel on the even ing of March 3 about some observations which he had made while abroad. As the doctor is a very observant person he was enabled to talk very entertainingly about the small things which go so far in giving one an insight into the character of a people. Matters of import to foreign nations were also referred to and on the whole the talk was a most interesting and instructive one. The following is taken 'from a notice put upon the bulletin board• by the Athletic Association: " It has been decided to present an athletic cup to that member of the Sophomore or Freshman class who shall score the greatest number of points in the various scratch events' held between now and commencement. Points made in events not included iu Inter-collegiate contests shall not be counted in the competition." College Notes
