Miller, from the Committee on Resolutions, reported the 'following. The resolutions were now read by A. H. Mellor, Raolrei, That, esteeming it safe to follow in the footstep, of Washington, Jefferson and 11!edition, and approvingof their policy as ehowu lit the ordinance of 1787. which 1,r,, Mated the existence of Slavery in all national territoo then under national control, we plant ourselera upon the platform of the Patriot Father., and proclaim our lumber, Us hostility to the further extension of Slavery, either tutu Kamm or any other national territory. Rewired, That the effort of the present national adminis tration bathed by the au-called Democratic" party, to force slavery Into Kansas, at the aucrifice of all the rights cher ished by a free people, demands not only the emphatic con. dexanatit3n of the country, but the union of all the friends of freedom - under one banner for effectual resistance to a policy so much at war with the genius of our free institu tions.. Remind, That the vast interests at stake in the Presiden tial content, involving the freedom of the public, domain, the freedom of speech, freedom of the press and all the con atittitional righta of a free people; impose upon all the rfrianditarconstitutional liberty, the duty of enlisting undcr one banner for the defence of freedom, and believing that John C. Fremont represent. Jolly the flee sentiment of the country, we pledge him our cordial support and will labor earnestly to promote his election. Resolrrd, That the Northern representatives In Confess alio have nobly end manfully stood up for the protection of the people of Kansas 84 - Must the tyranny of the administra tion, deserve our unqualified admlnition. Related, That the Union State ticket nominated at liar rieborg.in March last, nod the Unto° County ticket this day nominated, are worthy of the united support of all the op ponents of the national administration, and we pledge to both a determined effort to secure their election and a tri umphant majority. AUGUST 21 The delegates from that portion of Allegheny county ootoprit)ng, with Butler county, the 22d Con gressional district, organized by calling Dr. William Woods, of Sewickley, to the chair, and choosing Mr. John Miller, of Duquesne, Seeretary. On motion of B. P. M'Dowell, the Convention proceeded to nominate conferees to meet those from Butler, at Bakerstown, on Saturday, at 1 o'clock, to nominate a candidate for Congress, whereupon a ballot was had with the following result : • Whereupon hiesers. hi'Dowell, Baxter & were declared duly elected, and unanimously i, - structed to support the nomination of Hon. S. A. Pnrriance, of Butler county, for Congress, in the 22d district. • Bad Boys i n Limbo.—Two youths named John and Henry Freel, we should judge from twelve 1, thirteen years of age, were committed to jail yester day by Alderman M'Cune, of the Ninth ward. It appears some Allegheny boys, who aro engaged to drive live stock from that city to the Central railroad depot on this side of the river, were attacked by a score or more of young Pittsburgh rowdies yeeter. day morning, and a most riotous scene enitied. Stones and other missiles were hurled in abundance and one boy had his skull fractured by a boulder. Officer Roberts appeared among the mob, took the two above mentioned youths into custody, and on further hearing a justice committed them. When we saw them they were sitting In jail, surrounded by all sorts of malefactors, and weeping most bitterly over the deplorable condition they had brutiglA themselves to. Their fate should serve as a warn ing to a number of other young desperadoes wh.. roam about the eity apparently without the leart pa rental curare'. Wo submit, however, whether the House of Refuge would not be a wore approproite place for boye of such a tender age. The object , t imprisonment is not only to protect society agabuet the criminal, but also to improve his moral 'oath tion. This ran hardly be done so well on the hill as over the river.
