The cold wave, which overspread the entire Central Pennsylvania section, was accompanied by a twenty-mile northwest gale. Just what damage has been done to the opening fruit tree buds by the freezing weather could not be well ascertained this morning. Fruit owners, however, feel certain that the damage has not been great. The wind which accompanied the cold weather, however, counteracted to a certain extent its influence. Water was frozen in some sec tions, it was reported. More than one locality had quarter-inch Ice, but tills was the greatest thickness reported. The temperature started to drop at noon yesterday, when the mer cury hung about the thirty-live degree mark. It fell rapidly during the late afternoon and soon passed the freezing point. A number of snow flurries were reported.
