Presidents Than Any Man in County Kg SAMUEL SHEPLEY Halifax, Pa., Jan. 22. —Samuel Shep ley, one of the oldest farmers in Arm- j strong- Valley, died late Saturday in the old Sliepley homestead, two miles from Halifax, at the age of 92. Old age was the cause of death. Funeral services will be held at the ! homo of his son, Isaac Shepley, Thurs- , day morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. ! J. I". Stabley, pastor of Eishervllle Lu- J theran Church, will officiate. Burial will I be made in the old Shepley plot at Fet- i tcrliofT Church. The venerable Mr. Shepley was the oldest living descendant of the Shep ley family which settled along the Armstrong creek in the Indian days. Mrs. Sarah Keiter, of I near Flshervllle, and a large number of grand and great-grandchildren. Samuel Shepley was one of the pic turesque characters of the Armstrong Valley. He was a life-long Republican snd voted for more Republicans presi dents than most men in Dauphin coun ty. He took an active interest in the i politics of his district, holding a num ber of offices. Mr. Shepley read the Telegraph since ' the days of its founding by Theophilus •Fein. One of the treasured keepsakes j of the old homestead is a Telegraph of [ more than sixty-five years ago. Recent Deaths in Central Pennsylvania New Holland. Benjamin Frank lin Owen, died from pneumonia after a short illness Saturday night, aged : 8i years. He was a veteran of the Civil War. and prominently identified in many enterprises. Marietta. William W. Aliment, of I Safe Harbor, aged 70, died from | apoplexy. He was a retired black-1 smith and member of the Grand Army. His wife, one son and two brothers survive. Sunliiiry. W. H.
