The pigeons we're bound to keep track of them, if possible are now roosting on Bob's Creek and Minister, above Balltown, on Tionesta cretk. Thty are said tu be very plenty, but hard to procure. There is no place for shootfers or trappers to get lodging in that section, consequently the birds are enjoying somewhat of a rest, although it will be but a short time, as hunters are steadily flocking in, ami putting up wherever night overtakes them. The unfavorable weather is keeping the birds from nesting. Tho Fouest Republican was twelve years old last week, and to-day enters upon its thirteenth year with brighter prospects for the future than ever before. The circulatbn of the paper is steadily increasing and the very best of names are being added from week to week. We don't pro pose to make any rash promises of what we are going to accomplish in the future, but shall use our best en deavors, as in the past, to make it a readable paper, and worthy i place in every household iu the county. It has never been our style to go begging for subscribers or other patronage, yet we respectfully ask all who deem the paper worth taking, mid who have the dollar and a half to spare, to subscribe, promising not to bore the life out of tbern for the pay after they have dune so. The coining campaign promises to be one of the most eventful iu the his tory of our Nation, otid doubtless it will be. The Sheriff of Wrren county", with a po88 of six or eight men mad" a scatternieut among the pigeon shoot ers on Minister creek, iu the vicinity of Balhown, on Monday last. It seems the pigeons, on accouut of being shot, at so much, kept moving their roosting place until they finally got over the line, ioto Warren county, whereupon the bombardi 'g ceased as above stated. For the benefit of those who may not understand the law on this subject fully, we copy below Section 15, ofthe game laws, which gives ail that relates to the capturing of pigeons. Nearly every one with whom we have con vened on the subject seems to think the law is an outrage, and ought to be repealed, excepting that portion which relates to shooting iu the roost or nesting grounds. Following is the section referred to : "No person shall kill, catch or dis charge any fire-arms at any wild pig eon while on its nesting ground, or break up or in any manner disturb such nesliug ground or the birds therein, or discharge any fire arms within one-fourth of a mile of such netting plce of any wild pigeon or pigeons within their rootling, under a penalty of twenty dollars: Provided, That no person exjept citizens of this commonwealth shall trap or catch wild pigeons with nets in any of the I C0UDties f this commonwealth, unless ne Biiiiii nave nisi in kmi out a license from the county treasurer, of the county in winch said pigeo.is are found, for whiih license he ball pay the sum of fifty dollars for the use of said county, tinder penalty of one nunitrefl dollars: And provided further, t nat no person snail at any time or place within this state Kill or take any wild pigeon with any net, trup or snare, uor set any such r.et, trip or fnare for the purpose of taking or kill lug any of said pigeons during the uestmg season, nor shall any pcron seij or expose l r sale any of the said pigeons after the same ihall have been so taken or killed, under a penalty of ten dollars tor each bird so taken.
