Tho Forest Republican was twelve years old last week, and to-day euters upon its thirteenth year with brighter prospects for the future than ever before. The circulation of the paper is steadily increasing and the very best of names are being added from week to week. We don't pro pose to make any rash promises of what we are going to accomplish in the future, but shall use our best en deavors, as in the past, to make it a readable paper, aud worthy i place in every household in the county. It has never been our style to go begging for subscribers or other patronage, yet we respectfully ask all who deem the paper worth taking, and who have the dollar and a halt to spare, to subscribe, promising not to bore the life out of tbera for the pay after they have done so. The coming campaign promises to be one of the most eventful in the his tory of our Nation, and doubtless it will be. Ah kooii as the ball is fairly opeued the Republican will join in the struggle with might and main, and devote all its powers to honestly achieve victory lor the party. In doing this we have a right to ask aud expect the help of all our Republican friends, and with this help aud encouragement we will bave'uy fear of the results. At an election f officers for the M. It appears the warrant on which he was arrested, is one of several months standing, the charge having been preferred by Mrs. Jam, for threats and abusive lan guage. "Zip" was unable on so short notice to procure bail, and was obliged to go to the bastile. He will probably obtain bail in a few dayp. P. S. He has been released from further custody upon giving bail for his good behavior for one year, which settles that scrape. The Sheriff" of Wirren count?, with a posse of six or eight men mad" a scattermeut among the pigeon shoot ers on Minister creek, in the vicinity of Balltown, on Monday last. It scms the pigeons, on accouut of being shot at so much, kept moving their roosting place until they finally got over the line, into Warren county, whereupon the bombardi' g ceased as above stated. For the benefit of those who may not understand the law on this subject fully, we copy below Section 15, of the game laws, which gives all that relates to the capturing of pigeons. Nearly every one with whom we have con versed on the subject seems to think the law is an outmge, and ought to be repealed, excepting that portion which relates to shooting in the roost or nestiug grounds. Following is the section referred to : "No person shall kill, catch or dis charge any fire arms at any wild pig eon while on its nesting ground, or break up or in any manner disturb such nesting ground or the birds therein, or discharge any fire arms within one-fourth of a ' mile of such ne&ting place of any wild pigeon or pigeons within their roosting?, under a penalty of twenty dollars: Provided, That no person exjopt citizens of this commouweHlih shall trap or catch wild pigeons with nets in any or the -. .:. - - r . i. :.. .1 I count es in hum i-ooi ii'in nt-u in. uuii-ee , , ,, , u . . i .
