Wo are authorized to announce AMZA rUKUV, of Green Township, as a candi date tor the nomination of Associate Judge, subject to Republican usages. When a hraggert elbows a white feather his followers nro quick to abandon hiui. That is what ails Kearney. There is now some prospect that Dennis Kearney will become a work ingmau in fact as well as in name. He will work for the State. The Greenl)ack-Lp.l)or party finds the present business activity an iusur mouutable obstacle to success. Every body is loo buy to listen to financial schemes that require verification, and not green enough to take any stock in the visionary schemes of absurd cur rency tinkers. Frnklin Prets. The Police Judge nt San FraucUco, on Tuesday, sentenced Dennis Kearney to six months' imprisonment in the house of correction aud to a fine of one thousand dollars, for using profane and threatening language in his Sand Lot speeches. There is no man ia this country who is belter entitled to the inside of a prison than Kearney. He is au unmitigated blackgaurd and a leader of the worst elementB that ever infested any civilized community. ' Venango Spectator. "STATE CAPITALISMS." Harrisrurg, Pa., March 20, '80, The Board of Pardous met on Tues day last, and ater hearing over .fifty cases and granting less than a half dozen navdnns. adjourned until the 27th hist., when they will reconvene to act ou the casi s of the Bribery Con victs. Two of the watchmen on the "hill" were today arr-sttrl for stsaliuaj 6tite reports, &c, and selling them for old paper. For some time past it has been impossible to obtain Agricultural reports, and as there were a large number primed uud very few sent away it occurred to an employee of of one of the departments to "look the thing up." The State Library had been robbed of a large number ofthese reports, together with a lot of postage stamps and postal cards, and the Li brarian had p aced the matter into the hands of a detective, who, together with the employee before mentioned, 1 1 aced five bags of the reports to a junk denier who had bought them for old paper, at the rate of two cents a pound, books that had coit the state three dollars apiece. Several thousand were also found in a neighboring paper mill. The case is in the hands of the District Attorney, who expects to make further developments and send the thieves whert they belong We've had more snow and rain tliis week, which, consequent", has not improved the condition of the streets. Last Thursiav some boys made a mitiitnre ship about five feet long, lullv equipped with sails, ami placed it in the middle of Third Street. Ou its sido it bore the following: "Couu cilmen's excursion through Venice." You can imagine the depth of mud nnd water when I toll you that appli cation has been made for u charter fur a fttrry company to navigate the two principal streets. And thin is our State Capital. This filthy little town that aspires to be called a city. It's not only a disgrace to itself but also a shame to the State. Sec'r Quay says he is not a candi date fr U. S. Senator, but also says that it don't follow that he won't be at the proper time. Tliu two factions of the "Unterrified". are discussing whether to hold their convention at Pittsburgh or here. The Philadelphia Time says that having found they couldn't beat the Repub lican with one party, they are now jroing t try llie effect of tuo. We Mv.nit tremulously. W'.Mtur.s. Nebraska Letter. Snod- grass, of President, and several others from Pennsylvania. We lfft Oil City for North Platte. Neb., on March 8. When we arrived at Omaha the weather was quito cold, C below zero, and several inches of snow; beyond the Missouri river, when we tame to the North Platte river ihe weather was pleasant, and we could see thousands of wild geese flying, farmers plowing, sowing wheat, and some even husking corn. Arrived at JNorth l latte on March 11, at 2 a. in., in iho morning. The air was dry, roads were very nice, and a team at the depot took us six miles out in the country. But then in tiny or so we had quite a snow storm. North Platte is a thriving towu of 2000 inhabitants, situated at the junc tion or the .North and South Flatto rivers. The land i u - this section is more particularly adapted to stock raising than farming, and this forms the principal business of the inhabit ants of the town. The came hero is principally deei, elk, buthilo, antelope, and various other small game, such at wolves, wildcats, isick-rahhits, prairie chi kens, grouse, &c, &c. There is considerable government, land to be taken up near this town yet, but set tiers are fast coming in. I am going over into Kansas in a few weeks, and perhaps will write again it I see anything new. lours truly, JUBTIS SlIAWKEY. WW.' SIYIEARBAUGH & CO., ACOHB ISUIIJDIXa, (ono door from G. W.
