The complainant alleged that the said builders put their material in the street in front of his store, and thereby obstructed the en trance to bis store, to the detriment of bis bug berg. The Mayor decided that under the ordinance of 1816, builders hsvo a right to as much room on the street as is necessary for their immediate use for building tiurposes. The ordinance does not designate the length on the etreet, which may be taken up by the piles of material, but provides that half the street as well as the gut ters roust remain free and unobstructed. The 20th section of the aforesaid ordinance prohibits the sifting or riddling of dry Buie on the public highway in building houses or—stores.
