CATARACT, BALTIMORE BOROCOM, t Itlissouri River, Oct. 14, 1857. f Maar. Editor,: The election in Kansas has resulted in a most glorious triumph of right over wrong of the people over the usurper, and of principle over mob nile. The Free State candi date for Congress, Col. Parrott, is elected by 8900 or 9000 majority. We have a large major ity in both branches of the Legislature, and the co-organization in all the counties in the Terri tory but three and in two of the three the pro slavery party carried the election by fraud. Property is rising in Kansas since the election notwithstanding the great pressure in the money market, and will continue to rise now that the government has come hack to the people, and life and property is to be respected and protect ed by the laws. The pro-slavery party made a desperate effort to holster up its broken fortunes, the. scattered fragments of that miserable old party were got together and the deformed mass wart baptized I "National - Democracy," by 'which Many good men were deceived into its support ; hut all this would not do ; the stinking carcass of the old 'defunct party could not be cloaked by its new name so as-to get even a respectable vote in Kansas. - L You can say to your readers who may wisl good Manes, that Kansas is now free, and tha n she offers the best field for Industry and enter prise stir hin the bounds of the Republic. The specie, basis of the hanks is known to be about sixty millions, and the inquiry turns to the amount in general circulation among the people. On this point the Philadelphia North .11n.rican says: We have taken the pains, for our own satis faction, to leak' over the official -figures for a series of years, in order to approximate n safe opinion upon this subject, and they develop some results of striking interest at the present juncture, which ought to inspire feelings of encouragement even in the most desponding. Dot:Otas.—Little Douglas does not get all the help he wants from head-quarters in his preparations for the next. Senatorial elec tion. Ile has aceordinglynotified the President that he has but one relative in office, and that he does not wish the appointment of his father•in law, Mr. Cutts, to count against Illinois. He complains that he has "felt keenly and deeply the neglect and injustice" of previous adminis trations in this respect. Other States have had a superabundance of spoils, while the ever faith ful State of Illinois has been put on short allots ance. He says in conclusion: "Hence I feel bound to say to you, in all frankness and kindness, that any appointments you may make, or person you may retain in office, otbor than the citizens of Illinois—no matter how near they are to me—must not be considered as any compensation for the omission to appoint such Democrats from this State as 1, in common with the rest of the delegation, have or may recommend. I have not yet felt inclined to complain of the apparent neglect of the just claims of this State in the distribution of the patronage under your administration, having full faith that you would do us justice in the fixture appoint menti. I have the honor to be, very truly, Your friend, S A. DOUGLAS. On. 3AME9 V§I•CHANAN, PrLaident U. S Mr. Buchanan having, in point of fact, just dismissed Geo.
