AtllitteDOß, Phyalelan of Board of Health. • Laoraas To-Nianr.—The Rev. John Lord de livers his second lecture for the Library Associ ation, this evening, at Masonic Hall. Subject: —"Louis XV., and the Causes of the French Revolution." We recommend those who have any taste for the history of those stirring times to attend; they need not fear that the vigorous author of these lectures will suffer any one to sit uneasy in his seat during the hour devoted to his thril ling picture of France and Frenchmen in that most fearful and exciting period of their history. These lectures were prepared in the midst of the very places where those memorable scenes were enacted—giving the author the advantage of a familiar knowledge of the places and peo ple, and the charm of their traditions, over a mere historical compilation. DisTRIOT COURT.—Before Rom H. W. Williams. In the case of the Associate Reformed Church, the jury yesterday returned a verdict adverse to the plaintiffs. The defendants are thus secured possession of the Church property on the corner of Plum and Cherry alleys, valued at over $BO,OOO. J. W. B. Buboup vs. King, Pennock & Co., proprietors of the Eagle Cotton Factory. Alle gheny. In 1851, the daughter of plaintiff, Catharine Buhoup, was accidentally killed by the falling of a machine, technically called a "conveyer," in the cotton works of defendants. The plaintiff alleges that the machine w 4 not properly secured, and its fall was occasioned by their carelessness, thus causing the death of his daughter. He now brings snit to recover damages for the expenses incurred by the acci dent, and for the lees of her services. On trial. Tamar - amnia ca Joilsarows.—The Johnstown Echo announces that Miss Annette Ince has been engaged by the Brelsford Thespian Association, to perform an eegagemeut in that place. Johns town is advancieg quite rapidly to the dignity of a city, and we haver o doubt before long will have a theatrieel performance equal to our own. They have shown their good sense, decidedly, by engaging Miss Ince, as we are certain she will both amuse and instruct them. FIRE.—The millinery - store of Mrs. Rider, on Wylie -tree t , neon Washington, was set on fire, accidentally, last night about 9 o'clock- Fortu nately ths fire was discovered in time to prevent any serious consequences. The only damage done was by water, of which a plentiful quanti ty was thrown. About $2OO worth of goods were ruined in this manner. • DEATH or AN OLD PRINTEIL-Mr. Joseph A. M'Murtrie, formerly a compositor in this office, and one of the oldest printers in the city, died at his residence yesterday, of email pox. Mr. was a native of Crawford county, where we believe he served his trade. His death will be universally regretted by the craft. " Wins economy rtigus, then will I pur chase," so said Jehosaphat, when he bought his new tile at the Banner Hat Store.
