THURSDAY !dOIINING The Ramasaae or Law.-Leplitiaaa, and Fortune. fhe New York Tribune has the report of • will case before one of the courts of that city, wloch illustrates the rocoseoe of law: It is that of the estate-of Jeanne Deux, for merly a French milliner in Broadway, and more recently a capitalist and mosey lender in Wil liam street, who died last autumn quite-sudden ly, though at an advanced age, leaving an estate worth not less than $lOO,OOO, accumulated by avarice, lucky investments and shrewd manage ment This large property is claimed by one Ferrie, from Cincinnati, after dresser by trade, and apparently above fifty years old. He was brought up by Madame Deux .as her nephew, but now asserts that he wait her son by en early marriage, which took plasm amid the troubles of the French Revolution of '9B, and which she af terwards concealed. That he really is her eon was clearly made out on the trial, but the Public Administrator, acting in behalf of unknown heirs, contends that it Is not prayed that he is her legitimate son, born in wedlock. The evi dent* goes back toihe Revolution, and involvea some complicated and curious points of French law and usages. The argument was had yester day between Mr. James T. Brady for the claim ant, and Mr. O'Connor for the Public Adminis trator. The Surrogate's decision will, we sup= pose, be rendered within a few days. The following description of Jeanne, as she appeared in New York, is from the report of the trial: In the street she wore an immense strati bon net, with a shovel front, and carried a bugs reticule, stuffed with money lied yvaa. She_ lived in the the third-story of Inge, in William street. rssu -welt Up to ler row money of her (on inortgege, of coarse. ) She asked : Where the property? Who owns it? Is it built on? Is it down town ?" If all these questions were not answered satis factorily, she would say "Go 'long, rye no money to lend." At last her time came. She vu run over by an omnibus, last November, in Broadway, near the corner of Fulton street, and her ankle was crushed. She was taken to St. Vincent's Hos pital, where she lingered for twelve days. She talked about having a will made, about giving $20,000 for a Hospital, and various other dona tions; she sent for her lawyer several times, but could never make up her mind to give her prop erty away—not even for - a Delta HoepitaL She sent for her eon, but he was sick and could not come. So she died without a will, and now that- son, John P. Ferris, makes-ap plication to be appointed Administrator on her estate. Startling Exposure of ilonneulsin..lGet. ter from one of Pres , t Young's Wives. Outcast°, Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1865. Editor Boston Lady Timm: Allow me to trouble yet with these few lines, which I wish you to insert in.your Daily:Timer My object Is this: I have been for the list ten years a firm believer in the doctrine of the Lat ter Day Saints, or rather, Harmonica:. My pa rents became followers of the celebrated Joe Smith in an early day, and emigrated to Nance°. After .the death of Smith and his brother we were 'driven from thence. The society split. There were two who wished to take their lead er's place, and stand at the head of the Chturb, but could not agree. Therefore they separated. 'Jul. White and his followers, that is, such air-be lieved in him, went to Texas, and are living in peace and prosperity. Col. W. is a' worthy man compared with our great, or rather notorious Brigham Young, notwithstanding he has been for the last three years my lawful husband, that is, according to their own laws and roles. Bat for the last tyelve months I have seen enough to satisfy me; for what I don't know about Mormonism' is not worth knowing. They have secret plots and objects that they mean to ac complish. They censure the Government for not protecting them in all their hellish works.— For all this theythean to have satisfaction. My ob ject in writing this is to warn my female friends to beware of the false prophets who are daily snit - out from the Great Salt Lake City to de ceive the people. It is my intention to travel through the United States, and visit all the principal cities, and lecture on this great 'and important Subject, to caution all young people who should be so unfortunate se to be led into the ungodly trap. Stuart! In- Boston I shall deliver my first lecture, as that is my native city. I have one young Jody in company who also left the Mormons withthe. She has renoenced the doctrines, and willshelp me in my lectures. We shall both be present, and show Mormonism in its true colors, Whieh you never have had in your enlightened State. Had it been represented in its true light, awl its object told, there would not have been a follower left sweet New England to join - an& a set otim posters, for I can call them nothing else, know ing them to be such. If there !should iny elders or followers of Mormonism I hope th ey will come to the lectures, and dis putei what we have to say, if they can. We have ami—ohall fetch documents to prove our assertion. We shall be there in a few weeks. We are at pres ent slaying with friends, and as soon as we are refreshed from the jour ey we shall start for Boston. It is near two months' since we left the Salt Lake City You shall hear from me again, with more palticulars. But no more at present from your huieble eersanta, MRS., SABAH YOUNG, . MISS ELIZA WILLIAMS. [The above comes to .tte from s responsible source.
