Eckert, a resident of Ar- dara, Westmoreland county, for the past 46 years, died at his home on Saturday, January 15, 1944, follow- ing a stroke. He had been in falling health for the past several years Born December 28, 1865 in Centre county, he was a son of the late Roseanna Brinton and Constance C Eckert. He was marired to Arminta Erhard, of Untonville, who preceded him in death 13 years ago. The {ol- lowing children survive: Mrs. Ed- ward Corl, of East McKeesport, Mrs. John Osbourne, of Irwin, and Mrs. Everett McCall, who with her family resided with him. Eight grandchildren and § great-grand- children survive. A sister, Mrs. J. K Sprankle, of Tyrone, and a brother, George Eckert, of Danbury, Conn, also survive. Mr, Eckert had been employed for 51 years by the P. R R. Company but had retired eight years ago by age of 70. At that time he was presented with a gold watch by his fellow employes for his loy- alty and perfect record He wa member of the 1. O. O, F. lodge of Trafford since 1806. Since his youth Mr. Eckert was a devout church worker, being a member of United Presbyterian church, where he taught the Men's Bible class for 30 years. He also served as an elder and was treasurer of the church. His faithfulness and humbleness will long be remembered by { po ne a host of friends who mourn his passing.
