We have the pleasure to-day, through the kindness of our many patrons, in presenting a opy of the chief prizes to the Crosby Art Asso ciation. Many of them were sent to us by our errespondents,w-ith a few appropriate remarks. There seems tt be a vein of disappointment among many of them that they did not get the Opera House, as they had every reason to expect they would. The first is from a very Indignant gentleman: Mi. Series Editor: I gave my wife $5 00 to par base a ticket to the Crosby Opera House drawing, which she said sho did, and laid it away in her rawer, and we never thought of looking at it until I aaw the crowd around your office last Monday, waiting the prizes. I Immediately rushed home, ua Mary not being in, I took it out of the bureau, when, to my disgust, I found the ticket to read bus: C COOKING ACADEMY, ; I'ltOFKSSOE BLOT. j Good for One Lesson. This ticket, I suppose, cost 25 cents, and Mrs. jollier had confiscated the SI 75 change towards a aew bonnet, I have no doubt. My grief at this breach of trust (to use the mildest possible term) is almost overwhelming, for had she bought the ticket, as I told her, and had it been 68,600, as it light have been as well as anybody else's, and I lad drawn that Opera House, which I wanted very inch, and which I always admired ever since I saw that ploture of it at Mr. Fugh's, llary Jane and I noald have been independent; our children, of Which we have four, one of them now sick with the sore throat, on account of the salt in the streets, cnld have aresied up as well as anybody's chil dren, and been respectable; and Mary Jane ftolish woman!) could have bad bonnets piled np as high as the celling, and waterfalls for each one of them. Indeed, I do not know what we could not bave had, and I am now pnzzling my brains to think what we should have done, even it I had sold it for 500,000, losing a hundred thousand dollars, which je a big lo.-s, and which has ruined many a richor man than me. I .would have bought car tickets by the dollar's worth, sewing machines and pianos, and photograph albums by the dozen, and I suppose got them at the trade price; would have given Mary Jane (foolish and perfldlou woman!) and alt of the Children overshoes: and to think lor what she . aeriflced all this a ticket to a Cooking School I Well ! I can't write any more ; I matt go ut into the cool air, for it wouldn't be sale for llary Jane to come in just now, for when I think of that - .Frenchman Blot and that 58,600, 1 am overoomel Oppressively yours, Acoustus Qoillkb. r.S. BIRTHS, DEATHS, AND MARRIAGES IN I860 FORTY SOVEREIGNS ANI THEIR HEIRS. The study of the Almanack, de Gottia has, says the Berliu correspondent of the 'limes, been rarely so interesting as in the present year, the past having been uncommonly fertile in family and political events affecting the illustrious sub jects cf the tiny vet so weighty volume. Sixteen deaths are recorded in the sovereign families of Lurope, eight ot the male sex and eiirht females, viz.: The Landgrave Ferdinand of Ilesse-Hom-burg, last of his race, whose patrimony devolved tipou Hesse-Darmstadt, and Las since been con quered by Prussia; Don Miguel of Portugal, great uncle of the Kin; Prince Otto of Italy, son of the Kim;; Prince Louis Philippe tie Coude, son of ithe Duke d'Aumtile, 21 years of age; Prince An ton, ot Hohenzollern-Sigmarincen, aged 25; Prince Henry XlI.Reuss, juuior branch; Prince Sigismund, of Prussia, son of theCrown Prince, two years old, and the youngest son of the Queen of Spain, only three weeks old.
