You have doomed jt wise and ptoper to abandon the frreat Jtepublictin Union party ol the country, and to connect your name and influence with a tew organisation destcned to oestroy and deleat the cause with which I sympathize, and ot which I am, in some small degree, a representative. Friday afternoon last three individuals, named respectively Walter 8. Fuller, Charles Davidson, and Aaron Ward, took a horse and wagon belonging to Mr. Barringer, who resides on the Halt Point road, about one-and-a-half miles from this city, and proceeded to Hyde Park, where they indulged in drinking, abused the bar tender at Jones & Holmes' Hotel, and let t with out pajing their bill. On their way to Pough kecpsie they assaulted three laborers, two of them named Percy and the other Irvin?. One of the Percys was hit In the head witn a stone and badly injured. During the nielee or pursuit Aaron Ward tired a revolver at one of the laborers, the ball, how ever, not taking ell'ect. The desperadoes then fled, while the laborers weut immediitely to Hyde Park and placed the matter in the hands ol Officer Manuing, ot tnat place. On Saturday that ollicer came to Pouahkeepsw aud arreste J both Davidson and Fuller, and took them to Hyde Park , before Justica Dennis, who lined them t ach $25. Not having the funds, to pay the fine, they were both committed to the iail in this city, and Poughkeepsie otllcers were sent in pursuit of Ward. Saturday night a consultation was had at, police headquarters, and a course marked out by which it was thought he would be apprehended. ''-. On Sunday it was 6aid Ward had been seen gome towards Mr. Bat ruber's residence on the Salt Point turnpike, about a mile and a half in a northeasterly direction front this city. A iarriuec was procured, and Oiiiewrs Halstead and Vandevort started tor the plat shortly aitor noon, both woll armea, knowing ittat tney bad u. deemirate character to deal with. In tne meantime Warn was eating big dinner very quietly at Mr. Barringer's, the family being nreseut. While the meal was being coucuux-d. one of Mr. Barringer's family looking out t( th window.exclaimed, "There Is a whole wagon Viad of men HtoDDinn here.'1 Ward immediately arose from the table and uooroacbed the window. Ou seeinir the otbeers (lor it wastnem in the wagon) he darted out or tne house, and soon alter pro ceeded to the barn in a secret manner. Previous to the above happening, Ward had been in the barn, where he met his brother, who had beei.' looking for him. When he met his brother he k aid, alluding to Friday's matter, 'This is a pret.'J "ad atfair," and wanted to know how tiinga were in Poughkeensie. Ills brother told bun the police were lojklng for THE DAILY EVENING TELEGRAPH. PHILADELPHIA, WEDNESDAY him, when Aaron remarked, "They will not lake me alive." Judging from thlj conversa tion, it is fair to prennme that Ward undoubtedly thought he had killed the man be tired at on Friday. Soon after Ward reached the. barn tbe second time, Ofllcers Hoisted and Vandevort entered the building and proceeded to the hay-mow, where a terrible sight was presented to their eyes. There in one corner lay the headless body of Aaion Ward, the sides of the building covered with his brains and spattered with blood, while above, hangintr on a nail, was a part of the scalp and skull Ot the suicide, which had been blown there, the hair btill haneing lrom It. By the side of the body was a double-barrelled grin, with one barrel discharged. To all appcarauces he had placed the muzzle ot the gun in his mouth, and with his right hand, which was blackened with powucc, pulled the trigaer. It was, indeed, a terrible sieht 1 AH about the lolt were seen pieces of flesh and clots of blood. The entire face was gone. On tta lower floor of the builoing was a lame pool of blood which Lad dripped down through the crevices of the floor, lie bad truly lulhlied his promise never to be taken alive. Near the body of the unfortunate man was found an envelope with the lollowing on ono side: "I shot myself, and don't think that any one did it but myeplf. A. Ward." On the other side these words were visible; "And Linda, take care of all my things I leave here." The Linda spoken of Is a cousin of Ward's Coroner Halght held an inquest on the re mains, the jury returning a verdict in accord ance with the acts, after which the body was handed over to the friends.
