At one meeting 4-H Coordinator Joe Fuller came to fill club members in on updates for this 4-H year. Members also attended a live stock clinic at the Edward’s farm. The swine people learned the prop er way to wash their animals. The sheep kids learned how to sheer their animals and the beef kids learned a lot of beef related skills. After games and refreshments the kids took a test on what they had learned earlier that day. Wayne County was well repre sented at the recent Penn State Dairy Science Club’s Spring Invi tational Dairy Cattle Judging Contest. The “Wayne County Senior 4-H Dairy Judging Team” con sisting of Steve Rickard (Cherry Ridge 4-H Club), Doug Kennedy (Laurella 4-H Club), and Christine Wagner (Explorers 4-H Club), placed eighth high team overall in this age group. The “Wayne County Interme diate “A” 4-H Dairy Judging Team” consisting of Kathryn Nebzydoski, Ann Nebzydoski, Ashley Dix, and Ed Howell, all from the Pleasant Mount Go- Getters 4-H Club, placed third high team overall in this age group. Individually, Ashley Dix Andrew Brechbill was recognized at the annual 4-H Dairy Awards Banquet and Reorganization Meet ing as the outstanding first year 4-H dairy club member in Franklin County for the 2002 project year. These farms included: Cold-Spring Farm (Jonas Fami ly), Chyleland Dairy Farm (Jack and Ella Chyle), and Golden- Willow Holsteins, (Paul and Pat Kennedy and family).
