The 2002 Pennsylvania Holstein Fall Championship Show will be Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 9 a.m. here at the Farm Show Complex, Harrisburg. Jeff Butler, Holstein breeder from Springfield, 111. will judge the Fall Championship Show. The Pennsylvania Holstein Asso ciation has more than 360 ani- mals entered for the show, mak ing it one of the association’s largest fall championship shows ever. Along with recognizing class winners in both the open and youth show, the association will be announcing the 2002 All- Pennsylvania winners, based on placings from the spring show, Holstein Members To Raise Funds HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) The Pennsylvania Junior Holstein Association will be sell ing toasted cheese sandwiches again this year at the All-Ameri can Dairy Show. The booth will be located in the Dairy Activities Center near the dairy antique show. The Jun ior Association uses this as a fund-raiser and also as a food service to the exhibitors and spec tators attending the show. The sandwiches sell for $1 each. There are 42 animals eli gible to show that were entered as heifers with payments made as the animals matured. The Futuri ty class has the winner receiving a check for more than $925 in prize money. The association will also select the George M. Knight Jr. Total Performance Award winner. This award is based on the cow’s pro duction and show ring placing. The award is presented by the Knight Family in honor of Knight’s dedication to the show ring. - to again generate funds to support junior members and their activities across the state. Paul and Ellen Hartle, Mammoth Spring Farms, Centre County have generously donated a March 2002 heifer calf to the association for the calf raffle. The calf is sired by Mr. America, an EX-90 Storm son from Paul’s fa mous EX-94 Miss America cow. The dam and grandam of the calf both have high production re cords.
