A24-Lancast«r Farming, Saturday, October 4,1986 Eastern Milk Producers Relocate SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Eastern Milk Producers Cooperative has purchased a new headquarters facility here, and will be operating out of it by mid-October, General Manager Michael Donovan an nounced. The co-op’s new home, located at 2401 Burnet Ave., “is slightly bigger and is a better building” than the current complex at 6567 Kinne Road, Donovan said. “Plus,” he added, “we were able to save the co-op money by buying the new building for less than what we sold the current complex for.” The current headquarters includes two adjacent structures in the middle of a major shopping district. USDA Buyout Report WASHINGTON, D.C. - An estimated 12,900 head of dairy cattle were slaughtered in federally inspected plants during the week ending Sept. 13, as a result of the Dairy Termination Program, the U.S Department of Agriculture announced Wed nesday. This total includes all cows, heifers and calves identified as dairy animals designated for disposition in compliance with the program requirements. The cumulative total of cattle slaughtered under the program from April 1 through Sept. 13 is an estimated 763,400 head. The purchases of meat in ad dition to normal purchases are to help offset the effects of the DTP on the domestic meat market. The cumulative purchases, reported bi weekly as of Sept. 20, total 297 million pounds. The limitation of warranty and remedy on each bag of Agripro seed is part of the terms of the sale thereof. 4-19B0T Donovan said the co-op had been planning to renovate and link the two structures when the other building, formerly occupied by a division of Bristol Laboratories, “came on the market at the right price.” The Burnet Avenue building needs less work to get it ready for Eastern’s 45 employees in Syracuse, which means, Donovan said, “we expect to save money refurbishing the building, and at the saipe time avoid disrupting the work areas during renovations.” Eastern has been located at the current Kinne Road site since 1969, when the co-op constructed the larger of the two structures. April 1 to Sept. 27 totaled an estimated 35,111 head. An estimated 1,188 were exported during the week ending Sept. 27. Live cattle exported under the program are expected to increase as countries develop tenders to participate in the export enhan cement program. Pa. Judging T MADISON, Wis. - Penn sylvania’s 4-H dairy judging team returned triumphant from the national contest held here this week at the World Dairy Expo. The team tied Maryland’s team for second place in reasons and finished ninth overall. C.E. Hubbard of York County, William Curley of Susquehanna County, Doris Stump of Berks County and Dale Mummert of Franklin County participated on the team coached by Shannon Neumann, York County extension agent. Hubbard placed in the seventh high position overall out of 148 contestants. Curley claimed the 25th high placing . overall. In reasons, Hubbard stood eighth and Curley was 16th. The team was the second high for the Holstein class missing the top position by two points. Curley placed in the seventh high in dividual position and Stump in the 11th position. Positions five through 12 were tied at 144 points, the tie was broken with the reasons class. In the collegiate contest, Penn State placed as the 13th high team. William Lesher captured sixth place in reasons as well as high individual in Milking Shorthorns and sixth high in Brown Swiss. Deb Price claimed sixth high individual honors in the Ayrshire class.
