Included on the tour were Singing Brook Farm of Imler, Burkett Fall of East Freedom and Fidelity Holsteins of Martinsburg. First stop for the 41 Holstein club members on the tour was Singing Members of the Somerset Holstein Club gather in Steve Hoover’s Barn. Their herd averages 18,000 pounds of milk on 150 registered Holsteins. A rotary milking parlor and a ram manure system are used on the farm. Burkett Fall Farms, home of the David Burkett Family, is home to 80 Holsteins maintaining a rolling herd average of 20,000 pounds of milk and 720 pounds of fat. The BAA stands at 105.6. Burketts also raise a herd of red and white Holsteins and polled cattle. Burkett Falls takes its name from a small water fall behind the barn. The tour ended on a damp note at the Steve Hoover Farm, Fidelity Holsteins.
