The award was presented to the Penn State delegation of students attending the 81st Annual Meeting of the American Dairy Science Association in Davis, Calif. Judging of the 16 clubs involved in the Outstanding Club com petition was based on the number and quality of club activities as presented in the club’s year book, scrapbooks, and a display. Student participation in the ADSA Student Affiliate Division Meetings is also evaluated in the contest. As always, the club was very active this year. Events included the Christmas Cheese Box Sale, Dairv Promotion Dav at a local Mall, hosting of a Spring Dairy Judging Contest for 4-H, FFA, and Collegiate judges, the Dairy Expo Fitting and Showmanship contest and the second annual Nittany Lion Fall Classic, a Holstein consignment sale co-sponsored by the Club and the Pennsylvania Holstein Association. This year’s Fall Classic sale is scheduled to be held in the Ag Arena on October 31st, 1986. A new committee was formed this year to promote the dairy industry and dairy products on campus. This effort was the topic of a slide presentation in the ADSA Undergraduate Student Activities Symposium by Beth Heald, this year’s Pennsylvania State Dairy Princess. A number of club members were presented with individual honors. Kim Kriebel served as President of the ADSA Student Affiliate Division for the year 1985-86 and was named the Outstanding Student in Dairy Science in the Nation this year. Deb Price was elected Third Vice-President and her presen tation on “Ultra Filtered Milk For Cheese Manufacturing” won her the second place honors in the Manufacturing Division of the Oral Paper Presentation competition. Craig Williams also represented the club with a presentation on “Mammary Physiology, the In cidence of Mastitis.” Ten club members were also recognized for superior scholastic achievement at Penn State, and the club also placed third in the yearbook competition and received a plaque for the most miles traveled by students.
