Something special this year, reports Bourbon Springs owners, Ken and Joann Ketterer, will be the sale of progeny of three Duroc boars that had sired high indexing pens of boars in three state boar tests last year. Bourbon Springs has been involved in the Meat Animal Evaluation Center boar test at State College since 1974. Another Pennsylvania boar test regular is Lemmon Farm, owned by Bruce Lemmon and Bruce, Jr.. Last year Lemmon Farms had the top indexing pen of boars on test, and set new records for individual boar index (171) and loin eye area (7 square inches). Shepherd’s Crook owner Robert Leib is well known in sheep show circles for producing show win ners. Shepherd’s Crook has produced many market and purebred champions, including the 1984 Cumberland County FFA market champion.
