The Sale will begin at 9:30 A.M. Auctioneers for the benefit event will be Raymond Miller and Rufus Geib. In addition to the benefit sale, the volunteers of the Forest Fire Crew will also operate a food stand throughout the event, at their Station. Donations for the auction and the food stand are invited and con signment lots to be sold on com mission during the benefit auction are welcomed. Persons who are interested in contributing, or in consignment/commission sales are urged to call the Forest Fire Crew at 717/872-7298. A special feature of the benefit this year will be a ‘covering sale’ for afghans, linens, quilts, table cloths, bed spreads, etc., which will be held just after lunchtime. Additional coverings are also invited for this portion of the sale. The Fort Holbrook Fire Base, still under construction, is located on Oak Road, just off River Road, between the villages of Cresswell/Highville to the North, and Safe Harbor, a short distance to the South, in Manor Township. Proceeds from the annual Benefit Public Sale will be used exclusively to help meet operating expenses of the Fire Crew. In addition to wildfire control efforts, the Crew is involved in youth programs, fire service, and fire prevention - educational activity. The all-volunteer wildfire com pany presently carries a ‘field force’ of 48 men and women.
