32—Lancaster Farming,.Saturday, September 8,1979 Dairy breed champions chosen at Allentown By LAUREL SCHAEFFER Staff Correspondent ALLENTOWN - In ad dition to the Holstein and Brown Swiss breed com petitions; the dairy show at the Allentown Fair included Guernsey, Jersey, Milking Shorthorn, and Ayrshire competitions. Taking champion honors in the Guernsey show was William Zollers of Mertz town. Zollers was also the champion exhibitor at the Kutztown Fair held earlier this summer. The reserve champion honors were kept in the family, having been awarded to Jon Andrew Zollers, a brother of William. In the Jersey breed competition, the semor and grand championship went to Philip Tischler of Dowrungtown. He exhibited the first place winner in the three year old, best uddered, and produce of dam classes. Mildred Seeds won the reserve semor and grand championship. She was also the junior champion. Wendy Yoder of Shoemakersville won the top honors in the Milking Shorthorn class. This breed had four contenders for top placmgs. They included the Pinesedge Farms, Wendy, Fred, and Nedra Yoder all of Shoemakersville. Nedra Yoder achieved the reserve champion and senior awards. Pinesedge Farm exhibited the champion bull, while Wendy Yoder placed second. Lois Heyer of Kutztown swept the Ayrshire com petition. She earned the champion bull and junior champion as well as grand champion of the com petition.
