This is the minimum required by law and only 30 million bushels short of the stated reserve goal for wheat of 330 million bushels. However, on March 29 Secretary Bergland moved the reserve ceilings for wheat and feed grains. The 1976 crops of com and sorghum may be placed in the reserve when the loans mature and the 1977 crops will become eligible for the reserve May 1. The grain reserve takes wheat and other grams off the market for a period of up to three years, or until market prices reach stated levels.
