Little Dutchmen win FFA contest
The Little Dutchmen of Annvilie-Cleona High
School triumphed April 24 at the Area
Parliamentary Procedures Contest held at the
Berks County Agricultural Center, here. In close
competition were second-place Northern Lebanon,
followed by Tri-Valley, Kutztown, and Blue
Mountain FFA. The winning team consisted of left

Wheat in the grain reserve
totaled 300,001,720 bushels
through April 14, Secretary
of Agriculture Bob Bergland
said recently. This is the
minimum required by law
and only 30 million bushels
short of the stated reserve
goal for wheat of 330 million
bushels. However, on March
29 Secretary Bergland
moved the reserve ceilings
for wheat and feed grains.
The telephone report by
U.S. Department of
Agriculture field offices also
shows that 17.2 million
bushels of barley and 19.6
million bushels of oats were

and sorghum may be placed
in the reserve when the loans
mature and the 1977 crops
will become eligible for the
reserve May 1.
The grain reserve takes
wheat and other grams off
the market for a period of up
to three years, or until
market prices reach stated
levels.
The figures cited by
Secretary Bergland were
based on a telephone survey
by the department’s
Agricultural Stabilization
and Conservation Service.
