TRY A CLASSIFIED Thoughts for the season (Continued from Page 10) attempts, hasn’t been able to come close to achieving such beauty with his own creations We’ve been trying for thousands of years to build or shape something truly beautiful, but most any tree can put our efforts to shame When an artist, for example, paints or sculptures something beautiful, he copies what Nature shows him Let the artist be original, and he generally comes up with some slipslop piece known as “modern art”. it's truly remarkable how God's creations can appear to be so simple and yet so overwhelmingly beautiful A tree, for example, in simplistic terms, is nothing more than a trunk, a bunch of branches, and a countless number of leaves And yet that same tree reigns as one of the most majestic creations on Earth 'What’s more, that tree is beautiful in early Spring when new leaves are forming, during the Summer when it provides shade, during the Fall when it’s bursting with color, and during the Wmtei when it’s catching cold breezes Trees are truly remarkable Besides being beautiful, they’re a renewable resource with more than a thousand uses. OFFER GOOD UNTIL 11-14-77 Lancaster Farming, Saturday, October 29,1977 blooming majestically 7 We continue to strike out, and therein lies just a bit more evidence that God's creations are far superior to anything we try to do on our own The best we can do is to give Nature a hand. We have some control over the breeding of species. We can prune branches, sculpture shrubbery, and manicure our lawns. We can take wood from those pretty trees, saw boards, and build barns to house our cattle and equipment Driving through the countryside inspires thoughts of wonder and beauty It always does - at least to a farmer - but I guess it’s the color which really makes things stand out now. Magically, all that beauty is doubled in more ways than one when we see it mirrored by the smooth and serene surface of a farm pond or mountain lake It's fascinating how Nature’s beauty captivates the eye Aging corn fields are glistening in the sun Unlike the trees, these stately plants have lost their color Nevertheless, their bleached ap pearance casts a skyward glow. With trees and fields coming out with such magnificent glory, I wonder if it’s just for our entertainment, or a concerted gesture of thanks to the Supreme Artist for another fine growing season. It was a master piece. 35
