—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, October 29,1977 36 York-Adams 4-H’ers THOMASVILLE- It was a first in the sheep exhibiting career of Linda Ebaugh, 18, when her homebred Suffolk market lamb captured the grand champion ribbons during Tuesday’s York- Adams 4-H lamb roundup. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ebaugh, Delta R 2, Linda has carried sheep projects for eight years. The hundred pound animal was the first of 51 head on the auction block on Wednesday evening when a large crowd of supporters gathered at the Thomasville Livestock Auction for the beef and lamb sale. When the gavel went down for the final bid, Miller’s Country Meats, York RB, had paid $1.50 per pound for the purple ribbon Suffolk, the highest selling animal during the lamb auction. Lisa Dobrosky, Glen Rock R 2, showed the reserve champion show winner, a Shropshire weighing in at 95 pounds. J.L. Miller, York Miller's Country Market, York RB, paid Linda Ebaugh $1.50 per pound for the grand champion lamb at the York-Adams 4-H Beef and Lamb sale. Representing the buyer was Ray Mummert with his daughter, Amy. The reserve champion lamb, owned by Lisa Dobrosky, right, went to J.L. Miller, York R 8 Buyer Ray Mummert, and daughter Amy. put the final 51.45 per pound bid down for the York County market. Lambs sold by RB, purchased the lamb for $1.45 per pound. Breed champions were sold next in the 4-H auction. Tom Flory, Red Lion with a 90 pound champion Dorset, received 80 cents per pound from Roy Mummert Livestock. The champion Hampshire, exhibited by Tom Dunchack, Lattlestown, was purchased by Yost Meat Market, Littlestown, who paid 72 cents per pound for the 115 pound lamb. Nancy Eisenhart, Thomasville, sold the cahmpion Comedale, a 115 pound winner that was bid on last .by Sterner’s Slaughterhouse, Hanover, for 65 cents per pound. Yost Meat Market, Lit tlestown, also purchased Tom Dunchack’s champion corssbred, paymg 72 cents per pound for the 95 pound sheep. Richard Beck and Sons, Seven Valleys, bought the 90 pound reserve champion Dorset, shown by Laurie Dobrosky, Glen Rock. Glenn Plank paid 69.5 cents per pound for Don Flory’s reserve Hampshire; and Nancy Eisenhart’s reserve Corriedale went for 66.5 cents per pound to Thomas’ Meat Market, Shrewsbury. Ray Mummert, Brod becks, gave 61 cents per pound for Tom Dunchack’s reserve crossbred. Lisa Dobrosky, with the reserve Shropshire, received 80.5 cents per pound from F. Philip Smyser, Manchester; and Troy Ness sold his reserve Suffolk for 69.5 cents per pound to J.L. Miller, York RB.
