Society 26 Lancaster County Society of Farm Women 26 met on November 18 at the home of Mrs. Barbara Hess, Lan disville. Each person answered to roll call. Mrs. Deb Zeager from Cedar Hill Greenhouse gave a speech on plants and plant care. In that speech, she gave pointers on how to select a plant, and what temperature and light conditions to grow most plants. A short business meeting was conducted. It was decided to donate $lOO to Park Herr, Lititz, who just had a heart operation. One hundred dollars was also donated to Ken Stoner from Elizabethtown who recently had a kidney transplant. Dora Brubaker and Barb Hess were selected as the delegates to the state con vention. The next meeting will be held on December 16 at the home of Joan Hershey. Dauphin Co. Hostess for the evening was Daisy Cassel and co-hostess was Harriett Baldwin. Roll call was taken with 15 members and one guest answering. The business meeting was conducted by the group’s president, Bertha Kennedy. Final plans were made for the Christmas Party to be held on December 14. Plans were also made to make the Christmas visit to ther state hospital on December 15. At this time the members hope to donate some more used clothing, shoes, etc. All members going to the state convention on January 10 received tickets. The meeting was then turned over to the am bulance crew of the Hum melstown Fire Company. The men gave a helpful and informative demonstration on basic first aid. Many subjects were covered in cluding poisoning, fractures, burns, bleeding, etc. The crew also had a dummy that they brought with them and they taught the group mouth to mouth resuscitation. Several members tried this skill on the dummy. The Society also decided to donate $5O to the Ambulance Fund.
