9 Farm Women Societies •V :¥ Society 1 Twenty seven members and eight guests attended the meeting of the Society of Farm Women l at the home of Mrs. J. Clayton Sangrey, Lititz RD2, on January 8. Mrs. Raymond Groff led the devotions and Mrs. Roy Brubaker served as the song leader. Mrs. Gray bill Hollinger, president, conducted the business meeting. The society voted to donate $lO to the Farm and Home Center for kitchen utensils, and $lO to LARC. The women also accepted a project from the Lebanon Veteran’s Hospital and will make wheel chair pads. The following society members attened the state convention at Harrisburg on January 10 and 11: Mrs. Elmer Hershey, Mrs. Farm Women Calendar Saturday, January 15 Farm Women Society 18 en tertain Society 1, Lititz Church of the Brethren. Tuesday, January 18 Farm Women Society 23 meets Daniel Brubaker, Mrs Martin Moore, Mrs. George Zahn, Mrs. Graybill Hollinger, Mrs. Paul Kurtz and Mrs. Simon Snyder. Mrs. Hollinger announced that the Spring Rally will be held at Seven Springs in Somerset County on May 10. The 1972 county convention will be held at the Lancaster School of the Bible on November 4. Society l will be entertained by Society 18 at the Lititz Church of the Brethren at 1:30 pm. January 15. Miss Jenny Kissinger, who spend a year in Brazil as an exchange student, showed slides and presented a commentary of her trip at the society meeting. Mrs Simon Snyder, Ephrata RDI, will show slides of her recent trip to Africa at the next Society meeting to be held at the Akron Restaurant at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, February 5. Reser vations should be made im mediately with Mrs. Noah Kreider. Society 2 The members of the society of Farm Women 2 met at the home of Mrs. Warren Kline, Fruitville Pike, Manheim on January 8. Mrs. Eva Keener was the co hostess. There were 23 members and one visitor present. Mrs. Nathan Oberholtzer led the devotions and the president, Mrs. Marlin Hosier conducted the business session The roll-call was answered by reading the by-laws. Members will sew fifty wheel chair bags for the patients at the Lebanon Veteran’s Hospital Mrs. Eva Keener and'Mrs. Jay Witmer will prepare a meal and take it to one of the older mem bers in the month of January The following members received gifts for perfect at tendance the past year. They are: Mrs. Ronald Gordley, Mrs. Laser Shenk, Mrs Abner Brandt, Mrs Eva Keener, Mrs Andrew Lower, and Mrs. Marlin Hosier A gift was also presented to Mrs Rufus Waltz who served as treasurer in 1971 Mrs. Alvin Graybill gave a talk on her recent trip to the Holy Lands. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, February 12 at the home of Mrs Elva Sweigart, Grant St, Manheim. Society 10 Farm Women Society 10 met Saturday, January 8 at the home of Mrs W Raymond Dixon, 2349 Middle Green Court, Village of Olde Hickory Miss Ida Kunkle, Ref ton, newly elected president, presided at the business portion of the meeting The date for the County Con vention was announced for November 4 and the Spring Rally May 10 Serving as delegates to the State Convention at the Farm Show this past week were Mrs Dixon and Mrs. Cyrus Neff. Richard Gaintner showed slides on Lancaster County covered bridges and gave a talk on them as well as bridges in Europe The next meeting will be held m Lancaster Farming, Saturday, January 15,1972—25 11»! *- By Doris Thomas, Extension Home Economist How to Protect Your Home From Burglary Burglary is a danger every time you leave your home However, there are many things you can do to minimize the chances of theft Burglars spend their daylight hours canvassing neighbors, looking for uncut lawns, un shoveled walks and overstuffed mail boxes. They spend their evening hours looking for darkened houses, or lights that are left on too long. If you’re leaving home for an extended period of time, use the following guide to help protect your home Cancel all daily deliveries and pickups Discontinue your newspaper or arrange to have it forwarded.
