It is permissible to use tire chains, consisting of not less than five cross chains which do not project more than one inch from the tire sur face—when required for sa fety. Every tractor, when oper ated upon a highway, shall be equipped with adequate brakes for the control of movement, and to stop and hold the tractor. No interpretation of the Code, shall be construed as permitting the owner or op erator of any tractor to use the Inghway in an unusual or unreasonable manner, or exempt the owners or opera tors from indictment for nui sance, or prevent granting of injunctions against unus ual or unreasonable use of the Nor shall reg ulated privilege of operation on the highways relieve the owner or operator of trac tors from liability for dam ages to the highway. Size- of Tractors No tractor shall exceed a total maximum width, ir cluding any load, of 110 in ches, nine feet, two inches. The fee', for a special per mit for the period June 15 to Dec. 15 each year, author izing the operation or move ment of any over-size self propelled combine, shall be $lO for combines not exceed ing 150 inches - 12 V> feet - and $25 for combines of 151- 166 inches - 17 feet three in ches - in width. Operation of such combine is to be con fined to a radius of ten miles from the owners home or farm. No tractor shall exceed a total maxiinlirh length, in cluding load, of 420 inches - 35 feet.’ No combination of two vehicles, inclusive of load, coupled together shall exceed a total maximum length of fifty feet. The Code permits, upon receipt of a 'special permit, the transportation by a com bination of’vehicles loads im possible of: separation, which do not exceed 70 feet. Wheneverthe connection in chain, rope, - cable or a bar, there must be attached a flag not less than 12 inches both in length and width. Tractor & Load Weight Tractors shall not be op erated or moved upon any highway with, gross weight in excess- of thirty thousand lbs. if of the 2-axle type and forty thousand lbs if of the three axle type. Tire width shall be suffi cient so that*, including the load on the tractor, the weight shalljnot be in excess of 800 lbs, on any wheel for each normal inch of width of tire on each wheel. Any uniformed peace of ficer, exhibiting his badge or credentials of., authority, is authorized 'to weigh any tractor and load believed to be operating unlawfully, and may require that such vehic le be driven to the nearest stationary scales if these are withih two miles. Excess loads may be re required to be removed im mediately to'meet limits No arrests shall bs_ be made in cases where the maximum limits are not exceeded by more than .10 per cent.
