Er e Nion's Eye PENNSTATE Delaware County Vol. XXIX, No. 4 Penn State University, Delaware County November 5, 1997 Alumnus Donates $819,000 For Campus Construction By Rachael Fetterman “The largest gift the Penn State Delaware County campus has ever received in its 30 year history” was celebrated October 30. On that date a reception, open to the entire campus community, was held in honor of David L. Lipson “in appreciation for his gift of $819,000 to the campus,” explained Lynne Johnson, Director of Development. David L. Lipson, a graduate of Penn State (‘65, LA), is now chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors of Integrated Systems Consulting Group, Inc. (ISCG), an information services consulting firm headquartered in Wayne, PA, which he founded. But there is not just generosity in this gift; there is also admiration. Mr. Lipson and Dr. Ed Tomezsko, executive officer at Penn State Delaware County, have a long relationship that began in 1961. Then Dr. Tomezsko was a PSU graduate assistant at University Park, teaching chemistry and Mr. Lipson was an undergraduate student. The two reconnected in the mid-1980’s, Lipson recalls, and the relationship broadened from there. Mr. Lipson emphasized that his admiration for Tomezsko as a teacher and mentor was key to his decision to support Penn State. “The gift is being used to support technology on campus,” explained Catherine Sullivan, Alumni Relations/ Special Events Coordinator. It will support the new technology classroom building now under construction on campus. “Lipson’s leadership style and example arouse great enthusiasm, loyalty and pride from his company’s management team and his employees,” said Dr. Tomezsko. “His generous gift to the Delaware County Campus will generate the same positive feeling among our students, faculty and staff.” ‘Campus CEO Dr. Ed Tomeszko chats with Mr. Charles Barry (SGA Resident '87- ’88) and his wife at the '96 Past Student Leaders Banquet. SGA Past and Present Honored at Reception By Erin Lulevitch It’s hard to imagine that the Delaware campus has been in existence for thirty years. In that time span there have been dozens of SGA officers who have shared the hard work and responsibilities that go along with holding their position. On Friday, November 14 many of the SGA officers from the past and the present will join together with current advisors, faculty, and staff members for a night of honor and recognition. The annual event , now in its second year, carries the theme “Celebrating a Legacy of Leadership.” Approximately 50 people are expected Transfer Tips For Everyone By Paul Basilio Most students, upon finishing their two year duties here at Delco, rush off to what they believe is their promised land: University Park. From 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Main Student Lounge, the Local Transfer Program will be open to everyone. This year all of the current and former SGA office holders are invited. Sullivan anticipates that the list of attendees will expand to include all campus club officers in the future.
