| Be al a | March 2, 1995 — LION’'SEYE — V-Ball Marathon Raises $1,000 By Matt Bellucci Penn State Delaware County Campus’ Volleyball Marathon succeded in reaching its goal of $1,000 on February 15 by raising raising $1000.45 for University Park's Four Diamonds Fund-raiser for Children ‘with Cancer. The event, which was coordinated by Student Government Association and Student Activities Commitee, was supported by four clubs (Adult Student Organization, Student Athletic Association, Lion Ambassador's, and Camera Club) and attendance was estimated to be between 50-75 people. Unfortunately, because of the weather, only seven of the expected ten teams were able to attend. The field included the Lions, the Snow Peanuts, the Wacky Lions, the Slammers, the Natural Born Killers, and a team comprised of the faculty and staff. The action was fierce right from the beginning. The Natural Born Killers quickly dispatched the Slammers (15-0, 15-1). The Snow Peanuts advanced with a two set victory over the Wacky Lions. Then the Lions moved on to the semi-finasl where they defeated the Faculty-Staff team. In the semi-finals, the Natural Born Killers shut down the Snow Peanuts and the Lions had a bye. Itall came down to the Lions and the Natural Born Killers. The first set ended with the Lions being demolished 15-0. In the second set, the Natural Born Killers jumped out to a huge 14-1 lead in bid of another blowout. However, lack of concentration and some strong play from the Lions resulted 13 unanswered points, resulting in a tie score. The Natural Born Killers sooned regained form and the momentum shifted to give them back the lead and eventually a victory of 17-15. Spiritual Reawakening on Campus By Bob Lewis The national media recently reported a spiritual reawakening across our nation during the 90's. All sectors of the population appear to be openly discussing spiritual issues. Penn State University, Delco Campus is no exception. ~ Since 1973, the Nittany Christian Fellowship: has been meeting and struggling with many of the issues currently popular. In a recent meeting with Sylvia- Schafer, Financial Aid, Admissions and the advisor for the Fellowship, noted; “ The Fellowship participated in the recent campus retreat at Oberon Conference Center, Delaware, and the group is looking forward to developing programs and activities around the theme of ‘ Managed Diversity ’. “ She went on to say, “ The campus community is invited to join in discussions of biblical doctrine, as these are are consistent with the Managed Diversity Program. “ The Fellowship can act as a support group for each other in matters both spiritual and secular.” Lois Karan, 2nd semester, Broadcast, Satellite, and Cable major, as well as representative student of the Nittany Christian Fellowship, filled in some details. “ The Fellowship, at present, has a small membership, and no permanent leader. However, I feel encouraged about our future, and we are currently in the process of filling and maintaining our presence on Student Government. An election for permanent officers of the Fellowship is being organized as well as a membership drive.” In the area of objectives and program goals, Lois wants, “ the campus community aware that a demeaning attitude towards others should be avoided at all costs. We will make this a priority objective of the Fellowship. We also hope to have students and visiting speakers give testimony at weekly meetings and help others find the courage to speak out against injustice.” The Nittany Christian Fellowship meets on Wednesdays, 12:30 ‘till 1:20 in room 115 of the Library Learning Center, all members of the Delco Campus community are invited. Maybe I'll go to Vegas to see Billy Joel and Elton John.” Psychology major Keira Miller explained, “I am going to spend my Spring Break planning my cruise to the Bahamas and practice different gymnastic positions to work on my flexibility.” Frankie Skull, friend to all, claims, “I think I am going to clean my room and hang out down the mall. I am also going to visit my friends at church.” This year, spring break begins March 6. It is the perfect opportunity for students to spend quality time doing something they enjoy.
