Area theatre Open Stage of Harrisburg, the Capital area's resident professional regional theatre, begins it's season October 20, with a revival of Carson McCullers' award winning play, "The Member of the Wedding." Out of the poignant loneliness of adolescence and the strange bond between black and white in the American South, McMullers has fashioned one of the most beautiful plays ever to appear on the stage, already considered a classic of the American theater. Theater of the Seventh Sister The Theater of the Seventh Sister presents the Lancaster premiere of the highly acclaimed Broadway show, "Agnes of God." The play follows the painful examination waged by a court-appointed psychiatrist into the sanity of a young nun accused of murdering her own baby. "Agnes of God" addresses the very roots of faith, commitment, love and tolerance. The show will be performed October 13-15, 20-22, and 26-29. Bowers is a modern-day minstrel; she weaves her poetry into the harmonies of the mountain dulcimer. She tells tales of all times and all places without the aid of books. The Nebraskan native has been telling stories professionally since 1983. She worked professionally in the theatre as a dancer and an actress. Bowers, who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Adult Degree Program at Vermont College, offers workshops designed to increase the use of imagination in story creation and story development. She also teaches the Appalachian dulcimer and the autoharp. Bowers writes "The Storyteller's Corner" in the Journal of the Children's Pennsylvania and is a member of NAPPS (National Association for the Preservation and Perpetuation of Storytelling).
