Page 8 Baltimore Artist's Paintings on Exhibit A show of contemporary expressionistic paintings dealing with mythical, mystical and universal concepts of spirituality is the current exhibit in the Humanities Gallery. The artist, Catherine A. Jones of Baltimore, has been strongly influenced by Albert Pinkham Ryder and, like him, paints loosely, atttempting to express the inner spirit rather than the surface of reality. Contemporary feminist writers who have dealt with ancient' religions and philosophers are also inspirational sources for the artist who wants to convey a sense of the feminine ego through the work. A graduate of the State University College at Buffalo and the Maryland Institute College of Art, Jones has exhibited throughout Maryland and is scheduled for a show at the Amos Eno Gallery, New York City. This is her first exhibit in the Harrisburg area. The Humanities Gallery is located on the third floor of the Olmsted Building in W-352 and W-360. Hours are 8-5 pm Monday through Friday and evenings when faculty are in their offices. The show will run through October.
