Sept. 16, 1987 WNDR Comes Back From Dead By Denise Reinas After months of planning and months of hard work, WNDR, 63 AM, is finally being broadcasted live on-the air. WNDR, the student run radio station, began broadcasting on Monday, August 31st throughout the Olmsted Building. The elected officers of WNDR hope . that the station will be broadcasting throughout the residence halls by the third week in September but that depends on how soon the technical difficulties with the transmitter are dissolved. As far as transmission to the Meade Heights area, Luke Hess, station manager, said, "The electrical system at Meade- Heights is causing some interference with transmission, so to get around that, we are looking at the possibility of FM transmitting to the Heights through a cable system." Hess has no idea of when this might happen because the process would involve not only WNDR but the school administration also. The process of reviving WNDR began in the fall of 1986. Great student interest was readily apparent but new equipment and funding for the equipment was badly needed. WNDR received $3,500 from the student government association, $l,OOO from Penn State Harrisburg's enhancement funds from student affairs, approximately $3,000 in a grant from University Park, and approximately $7,000 in a loan from University Park.. The money went towards new equipment for the station and the installation of the equipment. The radio station also received a standard operating, budget fo r the daily running of the station. The elected officers of WNDR are Luke Hess, station manager; Robert Derk, assistant station manager; John Bucanelli, program director; Jon Geissler, business manger; Steve Potosnak, music director; Mark Coldren, personnel director; Michele Hart, news director; and Roy Kroner, chief engineer. The appointed positions consist of Debby Kanuck, secretary and Denise Capital Times Evans, accountant. "This organization requires many students to get involved," said Hess. "I ask everyone to please have a little patience;, we are doing all we can. There is a lot of work involved in the whole thing."
