"As for my own perfor mance, I was quite surprised. In fact, I may have even outper formed myself." Krehling's "surprising" perfor mance enabled him to walk off with the gold. Krehling began studying the martial arts when he was just seven years old. "I was small for my age. I took martial arts lessons for self defense, and it also gave me a sense of discipline," he said. "I've been in this for 25 years and I can honestly say I've never stopped learning." Krehling feels that the class he teaches here at Capitol could be a benefit to anyone who attends. "Just come in on any given week and you could start right in with the group. Our lessons are set up to accomodate anybody-- with or without experience," said Krehling. "It's great exercise, and could be very useful. We'd love to have a large class to work with," he added. Krehling said he is not yet sure if classes will be offered during the summer but he will definitely have his classes operating for the fall.
