Page 4 FACULTY ORGANIZATION COMMITTEES Committee on Academic Affairs Pr , embership: The committee shall review and evaluate all. course and curricula proposals submitted by the various programs; study the existing courses and curricula of the campus with reference to the needs of students and make recommendations for changes where appropriate; develop criteria for evaluating courses and curricula proposals; maintain such liaison with campus administration and faculty as may be necessary for the imple mentation of these procedures. Committee on Academic Admissions Standards Membership: One faculty member from each undergraduate program team, Academic Services Officer (ex-officio) and two under graduate students The committee shall initiate legislation relating to academic admissions standards and make recommendations to the Faculty Organization concerning overall and special individual problems of admission and readmission. Committee on Aoademic Athletic St Awa.rds TJembership: The committee shall carry on investigative, initiative, and advisory activities in matters involving academic or athletic standards related to the educational function of the campus; have the authority to act on individual problems on reinstatement and certification of credit; act as the final review board for petitions for exceptions o 4 giSdUSAionrequirements; deal with policies related to the athletic programs of the campus, including student eligibility and schedules for athletic contests; recommend policies relating to student awards and scholarships. Committee on Bookstore Activities rrembership: The committee shall serve as a communications instrument between faculty and students and the bookstore management on expressed needs of students and faculty concerning ))ookstore services, and initiate proposals for change and improvement of bookstore Services. Committee on Community_ Contacts Plembership: Three faculty members and one student The committee will provide for a close and cordial relationship between faculty and the community; be concerned with making known to the community the resources of the University and providing the faculty with useful inform ation about the Central Pennsylvania area. One faculty member from each undergraduate program, two faculty members from all graduate programs and three students (two undergraduate and one graduate) and Scholarships One faculty member from each undergraduate program team and two undergraduate students Three faculty members and one student Thursday, September 25, 1980 andards Committee on Com Membership: Three faculty members including the Computer Center Coordinator, and one student The committee will advise the faculty and administration concerning computers on this campus; encourage and facilitate use of computers by Campus faculty, staff, and students; schedule periodic seminars and workshops to disseminate information regarding computer applications and use; keep the faculty informed of any new hardware/ software useful to research activities in the various academic disciplines; supplement the available professional personnel in serving as programming consultants to faculty and staff. Committee on Faculty Four faculty members (at least two with tenure), one faculty member from each graduate program and two graduate students I :'lemberships The committee shall advise the Faculty Organization on matters of policy concern ing faculty affairs and shall develop criteria for faculty appointments, promotions, tenure, and leaves; make recommendations on matters concerning the cultural, social, and material welfare of the faculty and the educational environment in which the faculty works; make recommendations on rights and responsibilities of the faculty and on a procedure for hearings in individual cases where it is charged that rights have been violated or responsibilities unfulfilled; shall be the obligation of the committee to work with the Campus Administration on matters of Commonwealth and University policies affecting the faculty. Committee on the Librar Membership: One faculty member from each program group, the librarian and assistant librarian as ex-officio members, and two students The committee will work with the College Librarian and the Administration, the faculty, and the student body to oversee policies affecting the nature of the library collection and to consider the conditions governing the use of the collection; report regularly to the Faculty Council and Faculty Organization concerning its deliberations and recommend ations regarding policies and matters governing the conditions of use of the library collection; receive from all users of the library any pertinent information, recommendations. or suggested procedures affecting the development of the library collection and policies affecting its use. Committee on the Physical Plant i!.embership: Three faculty members and one student The committee will aid in planning for the long range development of the campus' physical plant and environment; serve as a, liaison group to the Faculty Council, the Faculty Organization, the students, and the Administration, thereby facilitating the way in which individuals can express their opinions as to the directions that planning is taking; coordinate requests for short range planning and development and for those small projects for which no faculty or group has jurisdiction. uter Facilities Affairs C.C.
