Collegian sports 10 Lady cagers fall short of late February 20, 1986 by Joe Magnu Collegian Staff Writer With two home contests re maining, the Lady Cubs coached by Karin Sobotta, hope to finish their 1985-86 basketball season on a strong note. Since the last issue, Behrend has dropped three hard fought con tests. Carlow College handed the Lady Cubs a 49-68 non-league set back and Westminster got by the lady cagers 53-62 in a Keystone Conference game. Behrend owned a narrow 45-44 lead at halftime and followed that up with clutch free throws down the stretch to earn the win. Jon Meanor hit two free throws and Gary Manuel hit one late in the game to nail down the fifth win on the season for the Cubs. Ed Robinson had the hot hand for the Panthers by scoring 32 Erie Metropolitan Sports Hall of Fame headed for a change s enthusiasm The Erie Metropolitan Sports Hall of Fame is conducting a "re juvination" campaign during the months of March and April. To "kick off" this effort, an infor mal prospective new membewr get-together is slated for February 23 at Hector's Restaurant located at 18th and Liberty. Founded in 1963, the Erie Chapter is a non-profit organiza tion created to perpetuate the memory of former athletes who have brought lasting fame and recognition to the greater Erie area through their athletic achievements.
