Keystone Is Active! One of the three commonwealth campus organizations active at Behrend is the Keystone Society, a noted service organization that sponsors a variety of extra curricular activities for the benefit of the student body. Past projects include bus tripe. to State College for All-U Day and the Honors and Awards Banquet held each spring to recognize out standing students. This year, tentative plans include a bus trip to University Park for trans Advisors Evaluated Behr end student advisors recently met with Dean Betsy Sea nor to express their evaluation of the student advisor -program. Each advisor will be in contact with their advisees sometime next week to schedule a midterm meeting. This year's program proved very successful by the majority of advisors. Bill McTaggart and Jeff Lang were the chairmen of the program and Joey- Kennedy was a special assistant during orientation week. The following students served as advisors during orientation week: Vic Kopnitsky; Linda Johnson, Darla Berkey, Sandor Vargyai, Paul Newman, Bronwen Gamble,_ Karen Shottin,g, Jerry Kuseck. Published by the Students of the Behrend College, Pennsylvania State University ferring students to -become acquainted with their future campus and exploring the possibility of installing an ice skating rink at Behrend for use in the winter months. At recent meetings, proposals were made to eliminate a 2.5 cumulative average as a requirement for membership. Rich Metcaff, society president, said "this change in the club's constitution would make the requirements more lenient and increase the number of new members. With more members, more can be done." The Behrend College Keystone Society is a chapter of state Keystone Society. Other society officers include, - vice president, Leslie Gall; secretary-treasurer, Laurel Grape. ~, Help RETURN Recycle Recycling is what's "hap pening' , according to Tom West, County Health Department of ficial. Mr. West was one of the many visitors (including a group of Behrend College students) at an Open House recently held at RETURN, Inc_ RETURN, a non-profit organization located at 1130 West 16th Street (off Raspberry) is concerned with conservation of our natural resources. In an at tempt to reduce the solid waste crisis, RETURN functions as a recycling center for local residents. Solid wastes including glass, cans, aluminum, newspapers, brown bags, -corrugated boxes, and cotton rags may be brought to RETURN between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. every Wed nesday and Saturday. RETURN suggests that all metal trimmings be removed from glass containers and flat tened cans should also have labels removed. --- Paper and related waste materials should be bundled and folded. Thursday night, dorm students chewed another delightful Dobbins meal to the music of Roger Salloom. On Friday and Saturday nights, everyone can drink coffee to his music. If you haven't already guessed, Roger Salloom is a member of the Coffee House Circuit and will be appearing at the Behrend Coffee House (the faculty dining area in the upstairs RUB) on October 12 And 13 starting at 9 p.m. Rolling Stone Magazine has described Roger Salloom as "a superb story teller with a good sense of rhythm and a great sense of timing, and the music is in credibly infectious." He has two albums out on the Chess label, one of which was described by the Chicago Tribune as being "one of the most important albums of the year". Salloom has played the Avalon and Fillmore in San Francisco where he met with the great critical acclaim. Admission prices for this talented singer-guitarist's show are a quarter with an activity card and fifty cents without. Another outstanding attraction to appear at Behrend will be speaker-writer Bernhardt Hurwood. He'll be presented in the RUB Lecture Hall on Wed nesday, October 17 at eight p.m. Bernhardt Hurwood's diver sified talents range from en tertainment editor of Gallery Magazine to staff member of the original Today Show. He's done over 200 animated cartoons for TV, written books on vampirism, and has been a talk show guest. Here at Behrend he's billed as a speaker on witchcraft, demonology, and mental illness, but his talk will probably cover many other facets of interest including his new books, "The Sensuous New Yorker" and "The RETURN site, the material is routed to various recycling plants in the state. Your help is needed. RETURN will need student assistance in a telephone directory drive planned for November. Last Minute Falls Instructions Given Buses for the Niagara Falls trip will leave Behrend College at 1 p.m. from the RUB parking lot. All students are asked to be at the parking lot by 12:30 p.m., so that seating arrangements can be made and the box lunches passed out. Please remember to bring identification with you. The buses will leave the Falls at 11 p.m. and return to campus at ap proximately 1 a.m. Girls, The Massage, and Everything". Hurwood might be more aptly described as an "erotica expert". Playboy calls Hurwood, "the sex-concious man's H.G. Wells". Prices for the Bernhardt Hurwood presentation are 75 cents with an activity card and $1.50 without. This weekend's movie (and last weekend's for that matter) is "Camelot". This Academy Award-winning film is set against the spectacular backdrop of Arthurian days. Starling in the film are Richard Harris as Arthur, and Vanessa Redgrave as Guinevere, Franco Nero as Lancelot, and David Hemmings as Mordred. This classic movie will be presented on Saturday at mid -night, and 7 and 9:45 p.m. Prices for the weekend movie remain at 50 cents with an activity card and a SL2S without a card. Also this weekend will be a Road Rallye on Sunday afternoon. Astronaut Paul Weitz Honored Here Sunday A luncheon was held on Sunday, October 6, in the R.U.B. faculty dining hall honoring Captain Paul Weitz. The program began with an invocation by Rev. Guy Patrick and was followed by lunch and welcome by Dean Benjamin Lane. The award was presented to Capt. Weitz by Irvin Kochel, director of Behrend College. In a response after receiving the medallion, Capt. Weitz said that he felt the space program is an investment in America's future just as going to college is an investment in a student's future. The ceremony was closed by a benediction by Rev. Ralph W. Storm. The Medallion Award is given to an individual who, by serving society and by attaining Capt. Weitz receiving First Behrend Medallion at lun cheon held in his honor this past Sunday, here at Behrend. Thursday, October 11, 1973 All contestants are to meet in the RUB parking lot at 12:30 with the first car off at 1 o'clock. This RR will be a gimmick rallye with contestants going across the three covered bridges in Erie County. Trophies will be awarded at the conclusion of the rallye. Entrance fees for this Sunday's event are $1.25 with an activity card and $2.00 without one. There will be 25 cent charge for each additional navigator. Also along the -lines of recreation will be the upcoming pool and ping gong tournaments. Registration for these events begins on Monday, October 15 and runs through Friday, October 19. Registration fee for the pool tournament is 75 cents with an activity card and $1.50 without a card. Prices for the ping-pong singles are 50 cents with an ac tivity card and 75 cents without, and 50 cents per team with an activity card in doubles and 75 cents without a card per team. - eminence in his chosen field, brings honor to himself, to his community and to mankind. The inscription on Capt. Weitz' meddallion reads: "Presented to CAPTAIN PAUL J. WEITZ, October 7, 1973, for distinguished service to society and eminence in his chosen field. He has brought honor to himself, his community and to mankind as one of America's first Sky-Lab Astronauts."
