This is the general feeling expressed by the newly elected Student Government officers, Mike Chiricuzio, President; Sue McMillen, First Vice President; Darla Berkey, Second Vice President; and John Lammers, Secretary-Treasurer. This year, the SGA is pushing for total student involvement, for both commuters and dorm students, with a special emphasis on the commuter students. "We are going to be a service organization with an emphasis on student involvement," President Mike Chiricuzio stated in an in terview following Monday night's SGA meeting. "We want the students to let us know what they want—any ideas any student has w ill be welcome at all times." Suggestions may be slipped under the door of the SGA office or placed in the box at the Union desk. SGA office hours will be 2nd-3rd periods Monday through Friday: Students are encouraged to sit in on SGA meetings which will be held every Monday night through Gove Scrivener along with his dog "Fella" will perform at a mini-concert Thursday, October 4 in the RUB. The event is sponsored by SUB. New JRC Officers Ask For The Joint .Residence Council meets to hear suggestions and complaints of the residents as well as to plan social activities. It is composed of three officers from each hall. These officers 'have been elected from the floor representatives by the Dorm Council, which is made up of Resident Assistants and floor reps. Frequent meetings will be held with floor reps so that. the dorm students' ideas may be heard. In addition, the RAs will act as advisors to the group. October in the Quiet Lounge in the RUB at 8 p.m. Starting in November, the meetings will be held every other week in the same location. One of the first activities ponsored by the SGA this year ordinator here at Behrend. According to Chiricuzio, some of the student activities have in cluded all-night bowling parties, movies, and dances. At the present time, Chiricuzio, recently elected SGA president, is an ticipating to improve relation ships with area colleges as well as other issues. Mr. Mead will carry on his work with and for the residence students, serving as an advisor to the JRC. Thanks to the dedicated leadership of both men, the JRC will continue to function ith student participation as results start to emerge in the next few weeks, guided by new hard orking officers. Newly elected officers from Perry Hall are: will be the Homecoming festivities. These will begin on the Friday, November 2 with a reception at the Holiday Inn South for alumni and students over 21 years old. The cost will be $2.75 per person. Autumn Weekend-Fun For All The Student Union Board's annual Autumn Weekend headlines this week's activities agenda. No complaints should be heard on campus during the next few days as there is truly something for everyone. Besides the activities scheduled as part of Autumn Weekend, the regular Coffee House and movie programs will be presented. An Ice Cream Thing running throughout the afternoon of Friday, October 5, will kick off Autumn Weekend activities. Ice cream and sundaes will be sold on the RUB Porch. That night, a local talent Coffee House will get underway at 9 p.m. Prices for the Coffee House remain at a dime with an activity card and a quarter without. On Saturday night the main President... The By Gary Schanthaler Staff Writer attraction of Autumn Weekend will take place in the form of a Semi-Formal Dance to be held in the Rub Faculty Dining Area beginning at 9 p.m. and running until midnight. The Dale Higgins Band will provide the music and refreshments will be served. (Not those kind of refreshments). Tickets for the Semi-Formal are priced at $2.50 per couple with an activity card and $3.50 without an activity card. On Saturday night (and Sunday for that matter), will be the the regular movie. This weekend's flick is "Little Big Man" starring Dustin Hoffman, Faye Dunaway, and Chief Dan George (who's he?). (Continued on Page 4) Thursday, October 4, 1973 events will be climaxed by a semi-formal dance that evening in the RUB cafeteria. The dance will be highlighted by the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen. Plans are also being made by the SGA to get into the Tri- Council of Colleges in Erie. This would include Gannon, - Villa Maria and Mercyhurst Colleges. More speakers and better co ordinated activities would•be the advantage of this program. Promoting Behrend 'in the community is another of the SGA activities in which student par ticipation is also greatly needed. Working to improve and help Erie and surrounding areas should be a concern of all students and this is a golden opportunity for Behrend students to show what they can accomplish. This year the SGA is going to try to get Behrend into the National Student Lobby to lower the drinking age. This involves talking to local and statewide politicians and other influential people. Two delegates will also be sent to Harrisburg to lobby there. Another idea is the forming of a Day Coffee House in the (Continued on Page 4) Indian brave, complete with braided hair. Saturday night's showing of "Little Big Man" will start at midnight for all the Late- Show fans. Sunday night's showings will be at the more civil times of 7 and 9:30 p.m. Movie prices are 50 cents with an ac tivity card and a dollar and a quarter without one. Also on Sunday will be the Autumn Weekend Road Rallye. Participants should meet in the RUB at 12:30 p.m. First car will be off at 1 p.m. Trophies and plaques will be awarded and entry fees are $1.25 with an ac tivity card and $2 without a card. A quarter will be charged for each additional navigator. Also continuing through October 6 in the library is an art exhibit. So come on down and show your culture. It's free. Behrend Student To Work For FVA Michael J. Karle, a veteran attending school at Behrend, was recently approved under the Federal Veteran Administration to work at Behrend's Veterans office. Karle's duties will consist of counseling veterans and in teresting them in attending Behrend. Marian For those wishing to contact Karle, his office hours will be posted in the Vets office located in the lower level of the Reed Building. Any faculty member aware of any student who might be interested in the Work Study Program should contact Mrs. Cynthia Krishna in the Student Affairs Office as soon as possible.
